    The Chief Investment Officer (CIO) oversees the investment activities of Wealth Management and Retirement Plan Services, including all portfolio management and research activities.


    This role leads a team of investment professionals in building sound investment processes, setting strategic and tactical asset allocation targets, managing any proprietary investment strategies, developing & managing our model portfolios, and producing manager/product research.

    sets and communicates our investment views and strategy.

    In addition, the CIO serves as a senior member of the Wealth Management leadership team.
    Primary Responsibilities

    Develops and implements investment strategies that align with the organization's goals and objectives.


    Designs and manages a repeatable and marketable investment process, around a common HTLF investment philosphy, that is scalable and readily accepted by our advisor teams and clients.


    Leads team of investment professionals that effectively execute all aspects of the investment process, including the assignment of responsibilities and distributing workload.


    Develops strategic and tactical asset allocation recommendations and overall market views and oversees the publishing of regular research content for use in internal and external communications.


    Guides our research process around SMA/mutual fund/ETF due diligence and equity research/evaluation, to identify superior products and strategies across multiple asset classes that are used in WM client portfolios and Retirement Plan Services (RPS) offerings.


    Manages the portfolio management process to make sure all strategies are communicated and implemented in a consistent manner across client portfolios.

    Ensures superior portfolio manager support to Advisor and clients.


    Actively participates in key client meetings and new business activities to effectively convey our market views, investment philosphy, and investment strategies.


    Coordinates and publishes regular research content around market views, investment strategies, and investment concepts for use in in internal and external communications.


    Serve as the leader of investment communicationsin, the production of print, video, website, webinars, podcasts to be distributed to internal stakeholders and Wealth Management clients.

    Chairs monthly investment strategy meetings, WM Due Diligence, and WM Investment Committee Meetings.

    Works on Wealth Management strategic planning and annual budget and participates in HTLF acquisition related due diligence.


    Creates presentations to clients and client marketing functions on markets, investment strategy, tactical portfolio positioning via webinar, written reports, and meetings, as requested by division banks.

    Ensures that all research efforts are

    consistent with investment philosophy, department policies and policies. implemented timely, and communicated effectively.

    Completes annual E-Learning Plan and Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) training as assigned and keeps up-to-date knowledge of BSA as it relates to the job function.

    Works with department staff on individual professional development and career development opportunities. Facilitates team members in creating individual goals and development plans that align with the department goals.


    Works with HTLF's Talent Acquisition team to identify and hire the most qualified and talented individuals to fill open positions.

    Provides information and on-going feedback to department staff regarding expectations and performance, salary adjustments and/or promotions.

    Addresses and resolves all performance concerns and issues in a timely manner.

    Prepares and conducts annual performance reviews within established deadlines.

    Qualifications
    Bachelors Accounting, Business Administration/Management, Finance required

    Masters

    preferred
    Charted Financial Analysis (CFA) or equivalent designation/education/experience required

    10+ years professional experience in a leadership role within the investment mananagement and research industry with experience in leading investment teams required

    Management experience verbiage required

    Strong alignment with HTLF WM investment philosophy required

    Proven ability to build policies, procedures, and investment process around departmental strategies and personnel required

    In-depth experience and knowledge of markets and portfolio construction utilizing multiple asset classes required with experience in equities/equity research required

    Proven ability to make effective presentations to individuals, small groups, and large groups required

    Strong leadership capabilities coupled with a demonstrated ability to motivate and encourage high performing teams required

    Standard Business Hours:

    The targeted salary for this role is:
    $207, $269,637.00
