    Position Title:
    Job Placement Counselor - Summer Position 2024


    General Purpose:


    Under the direction of the Vocational Coordinator and the Vocational Teacher to provide students with vocational rehabilitation services including assessment, instruction supervision and evaluation in a variety of on campus and community based settings.


    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Evaluates students for work readiness. Attends team meeting with referring Teachers, clinical staff and/or students.
    • Develops work tasks to increase job or community readiness for students as part of an interdisciplinary team to maximize outcomes for RSS students.
    • Communicates with educational team on a regular basis. Provides input to team with regard to job competencies and areas of need.
    • Responsible for accurate data collection, daily productivity, behavioral data, monthly billing and report writing using established format.
    • Able to function independently with good decision making skills. Strong customer service skills necessary. Acts as a liaison for CREC and River Street School to the community and other CREC programs.
    • Develops, maintains and troubleshoots computer documents established to track student accounts, payroll, student scheduling as well as student objectives. Performs administrative functions including generating permission slips for off-site work, ordering and maintaining supplies in addition to above mentioned tasks.
    • Superior communication and presentation skills required.
    • Maintain student banking accounts and implement billing procedures for contract work.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
    BS/BA degree and 3 years or more experience in Vocational or Community employment setting or a related field. Knowledge of various disabilities as they impact vocational functioning. Requires knowledge of teaching skills and adaptive strategies for special needs children as behavioral management skills. Familiarity with the functions and needs of adult service agencies. Must participate in mandatory CREC trainings including First Aid/CPR and Safety Care. Valid CT driver's license and ability to secure and maintain a PSL endorsement. Writing sample required. Fluency in American Sign Language required.

    This is a summer only position.

    Hours: 8am - 3pm
