HTI has an immediate opening for a Sr. Supplier Quality Engineer with a large automotive manufacturer in Summerville, SC. This is a direct hire, onsite, full-time position. Relocation assistance is available. Salary depends on experience/education, and the range is approximately $90,000 - $110,000 / year.

Job Summary:

The primary function of this position is to continually improve the quality and delivery of supplied components through quality improvement initiatives implemented within the supply base.

Works to develop the supply chain and ensure that supplier's processes and products meet the requirements of the company and its customers.

Additionally, this position will be responsible for assessing and improving processes and development of receiving inspection strategies, supplier ratings, corrective action initiation and follow-up (8D's), and supplier development.

Job Duties:

Establish and continuously improve the vision for the Supplier Quality Team focused on providing outstanding service to the customer.

Provides direction, development, and performance management of direct reports. Develop professional and productive relationships with the Value Stream Leaders in the organization. Actively work with colleagues at the lead plant to continuously improve and standardize the Supplier Quality processes globally.

Technical development of supplier organizations to improve processes and drive toward zero defects in the products supplied to the company.

Accountable for sustainable supplier corrective actions as well as supplier PPAP activities. Assess supplier performance relative to quality and delivery issues. Develops and reports supplier quality metrics to management. Manage certification requirements for suppliers. Work closely with Logistics team regarding supplier delivery and quality issues. Coordinate with Finance team to insure proper "charge backs" to the suppliers. Keeps management team informed of progress, developments, and pending problems. Interprets company policies to workforce and enforces safety regulations. Supports lean manufacturing practices such as 5S, kanban, poka-yoke, visual management, 1-piece flow, etc. Works together with others to obtain/maintain ISO/TS 16949 and other quality requirements. Develops goals/objectives and defines metrics to measure performance to the goal.

Additional Responsibilities:

Must be able to travel to suppliers and other company sites, domestic and international, as required (approximately 15-30% travel).

Sets high quality standards and demonstrates a firm commitment to quality and continuous improvement. Has the authority to hold and/or stop product shipments if it does not conform to the quality requirements. Has the authority to override any decisions made to ship non-conforming product All employees are responsible for having an awareness and understanding of the company's commitment to ISO 14001 Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Engineering 6+ years of experience as a Supplier Quality Engineer within the automotive manufacturing industry Must have experience working with quality management systems with fundamental understanding of quality management systems, process approach, and continuous improvement methods and tools Previous quality/ engineering leadership experience Proven leadership capability for collaborating with internal and external customers toward continuous improvement Experience with APQP and process capability Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing concepts; Six Sigma certification a plus Knowledge of statistical concepts and methods to ensure appropriate application and analysis of data, with ability to analyze issues, solve problems and develop others to do the same Strong verbal/oral and written communication skills Strong knowledge of MS Office products (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

Familiarity with SAPPreferred Skills:
Knowledge of automotive driveline components ASQ affiliation and certification Certified VDA Auditor ISO/TS 16949 Auditor INDPRO
