    Position Summary:

    As a Speech Language Pathologist, you will provide tailored treatments to patients by assessing their needs and implementing appropriate strategies to improve or restore function. You will participate in an interdisciplinary approach to community education and clinical training for students.

    Education/Certification:

    • Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology from an accredited program.
    • Current Connecticut license for Speech Language Pathology required.
    • Certificate of Clinical Competency from the American Speech Language and Hearing Association.

    Key Competencies:

    • Strong verbal and written English communication skills.
    • Basic personal computer skills, including Windows-based programs such as Word, Outlook, and Excel.
    • Reliable transportation for travel between multiple work sites, as travel is necessary to perform essential duties.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    1. Evaluate patients to establish individualized, appropriate, measurable goals.
    2. Modify evaluations based on patient symptoms and medical status.
    3. Utilize therapeutic techniques to treat patients effectively.
    4. Administer physical agents and manual techniques as needed.
    5. Support patients in normalizing speech and language activities.
    6. Educate patients and families on home exercise programs to enhance independent functionality.
    7. Assess patient progress to determine discharge readiness from treatment.
    8. Document patient care following insurance guidelines and departmental policies.
    9. Enhance interdepartmental communication regarding patient care.
    10. Complete and submit billing charges accurately and consistently.
    11. Uphold ethical standards set by ASHA and our facility.
    12. Follow proper body mechanics and safety procedures.
    13. Supervise affiliated students during their clinical training.
    14. Engage in continuing education to enhance treatment techniques.
    15. Participate in departmental or community in-service training sessions.
