    As a Director, Actuary you will be a critical member of the Banner Plans & Networks Team. You will support Banner Plans & Networks' strategic and growth goals by using your actuarial skill set. You will utilize your extensive leadership background to lead the development of a variety of healthcare actuarial analyses. You will lead a team that will help to complete the technical portion of the analyses. You will partner with, and present to, all levels of leadership. You will also develop all levels your team from Interns to Analysts.

    POSITION SUMMARY
    This position will lead healthcare actuarial analyses under minimal supervision of senior actuarial staff.

    The position will either have knowledge of, or will become knowledgeable in, Medicare Shared Savings Program (MSSP) Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs), Commercial ACOs, Employer Plans, Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug (MA-PD) plans, Medicaid, Medical Economics, and other healthcare data analytics.

    The actuary will be encouraged to progress in their career development under the Banner Actuarial Professional Development Program.


    CORE FUNCTIONS

    • Lead healthcare actuarial analyses (projections, pricing, reserving, and other analyses using tools developed in Excel, SAS, Teradata, Tableau, and other software) with the limited oversight and feedback from senior actuarial staff.
    • Develop/present results of the performed analyses to senior actuarial staff and/or insurance division executives.
    • Lead (and participate) in the development of actuarial models and reports for the continued growth of the actuarial team.
    • Serve as a department representative on major projects and interpretation of healthcare regulations.
    • Excels at communicating highly technical topics to external audiences and has excellent presentation skills.
    • Provides training, leadership, and development opportunities for junior staff and provides honest feedback to aid in development of talent.
    • Collaborates with leaders outside the actuarial and finance departments to provide actuarial support and inform strategies to drive desired results.
    • Lead the development of models and analyses to support strategic initiatives, business decisions, and other ad-hoc business needs and communicate results to a wide ranging audience.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


    Strong knowledge of healthcare actuarial analysis as normally obtained through the completion of a Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Business, Finance, or Healthcare Administration or related discipline with seven years of experience.


    License/Certification:
    Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) designation within 12 months of being hired.

    Knowledge of software for data analysis; specifically spreadsheets (e.g. MS Excel, VBA), data extraction and manipulation (e.g. SAS, Teradata, R) and data visualization (e.g. Tableau).


    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
    Actuarial experience with Medicare, Medicaid or commercial health insurance.

    Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
