    Description
    The Role

    As DevOps Engineer at Capstone you'll use your strong technical skills to deploy and maintain public cloud services to create and maintain robust, reliable, and highly-performant platforms for Capstone's digital websites and products.

    You'll design, implement, and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines and processes to deploy code, content, services, and product environments.

    The DevOps Engineer works closely with development and content teams to schedule and deliver production releases on time, as well as monitors, alerts, and automates issue resolution.

    Optimizing public cloud costs, continually innovating to improve security, reliability, automation, and efficiency, and implementing DevOps processes and best practices are also major responsibilities of this role.

    This position will work as a team member of an Agile SCRUM team, including doing peer or pair reviews, helping define user stories, participating in Agile ceremonies and working user stories to completion.

    This role will be hybrid out of either our Edina, MN or North Mankato, MN location.

    YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
    Technology Implementation & Management


    • Implement tools and custom scripts for managing and maintaining Capstone's digital products and services in the AWS and Azure public clouds.
    • Design and implement automated processes to deploy code and content releases for our digital websites and products.
    • Actively innovate and explores areas of technology, service, and operational enhancement and drives improvement.
    • Solve problems given limitations of resource, process, and technology.
    • Protect data, software, and hardware by coordinating, planning, and implementing security measures. Implement monitoring and alerting solutions.
    • Defining User Stories during Epic Batching and Backlog Grooming.
    • Drive automation, innovation, and efficiencies.
    • Exercises independent discretion and judgment in matters of significance and protect the organization's value by keeping information confidential.
    Collaboration & Communication


    • Quickly recognize and communicate risks and opportunities. Recommend and implement changes to ensure reliable and continuous operations. Create and maintain documentation.
    • Create policies, standards, guidelines, and metrics to ensure that a consistent framework is applied. Establish and maintain service performance and uptime. Liaison between business units as needed.
    • Must be available to work some evening hours, travel to corporate locations as required, and participate in on-call support that is scheduled on a rotating basis.

    Education, Experience, and Skills desired:

    • Bachelor's degree in a computer related field preferred, or 5 years of relevant work experience.
    • 3 years of experience preferred in development, database, public cloud, IT operations, security, web hosting, and DevOps experience.

    Strong understanding and experience with:
    o AWS services, architectures, and operations (Lambda, SQS, SNS, EC2, CDN/S3, etc.).
    o Data operations, performance, and tuning – MySQL, Postgres, MongoDB, AWS Aurora, Elastic Search.
    o Deploying and maintaining SW engineering stacks, , React JS, LEMP, and ELK.
    o CloudFormation and Terraform.
    o CI/CD pipelines and processes.
    o Automation tools (Puppet, Chef, Ansible, Jenkins, GitLab, etc.)
    o Bash, PHP, Python, Golang and scripting languages applicable to automation.
    o Operating system administration, programing languages, and cloud platform deployment.
    o Version control (Git).
    o AWS CloudWatch and other monitoring technology and systems.
    o Data security and data privacy systems and technologies.


    • Azure knowledge and experience (databases, virtual machines, functions, APIs, monitoring, alerting, etc.)
    • Current with industry and DevOps best practices and trends.
    • Solid understanding of serverless and micro service architectures.
    • Knowledge of Drupal operations, security, and maintenance.
    • Ability to quickly learn new or unfamiliar technology and products.
    • Ability to work with business stakeholders and outside vendors and contractors.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Proven track record of collaborating with cross-functional groups to produce results.
    • Executes within a self-organized Agile SCRUM process.
    • Demonstrates enthusiasm and commitment toward the job and mission of the company.
    • Dependable and flexible.
    Travel Requirements
    Approximately 5-10% travel may be required in the future.
