- Oversees the accurate calculations and preparation of excise, sales, and any other local taxes.
- Supports other departments with all income tax-related matters, responds to notices from tax authorities, and general ledger analysis.
- Prepares and files monthly, quarterly, and annual business tax returns.
- Prepare transaction tax (excise, sales/use, CBT, business renewals, gross receipts, environmental and property tax) returns for monthly, quarterly, and annual filings.
- Analyzes general ledger details to ensure proper classification of posted transactions.
- Month-end financial close, including reconciliation and analysis of general ledger tax accounts and assisting with the year-end audit process.
- Assist with insurance matters for the company and its subsidiaries.
- Interpret and comply with state, local statutes, regulations, and legislation.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 3+ years of Tax and Accounting Experience
- Good understanding of and experience with CDTFA.
- Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office, and comfortability with various accounting software and databases.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively internally as well as with external service providers.
- Cannabis experience a plus, but not required.
- This job operates both remotely and in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers, filing cabinets and may work in proximity with customers and staff.
- Work revolves around objectives, projects, and priorities, not hours; must be able to work weekends, holidays, and occasional overtime as needed.
- Must be able to stand, walk, lift, sit, and bend for a majority of their work schedule.
- Must be able to travel to other office locations.
- Ability to use a computer and calculator for 8 hours or more.
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Must comply with all legal or company regulations for working in the industry.
- Selected candidates will be required to complete a post offer, pre-employment background check with the local law enforcement or city Police Department.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- Some lifting, squatting, bending, pushing and pulling.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on a regular basis without assistance.
- Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, bend, lift, push, pull, talk and hear for extended periods of time.

Job Summary
The Tax Associate is responsible for all corporate income tax compliance including calculations and preparation of excise, sales, and any other local taxes, tax accounting, and tax reporting to the organization.
The Tax Associate position is involved in all aspects of domestic transaction tax compliance and research in the unique and quickly evolving industry.
Pay Range:
$75,000 - $85,000
