    About the RolePURPOSE OF POSITION:

    Weld Engineers are responsible for management and support of all plant weld systems and documentation, and for working with Engineering on new weld machine controls and standards.

    Your ResponsibilitiesRESPONSIBILITY AND AUTHORITY:

    Adhere to and comply with and exceed where possible all applicable federal, state, and OSHA environmental, health and safety laws, regulations, external & internal standards, and other requirements in all its operations which relate to its health, safety, and environmental aspects.

    Familiarity with Engineering and Quality practices and procedures including APQP, PPAP, blueprint reading, GD&T, use of measuring instruments, checking aids / fixtures, computer applications, mechanical testing, and customer and IATF 16949 requirements.

    Good organizational, leadership, interpersonal, and problem-solving skillsEnsure Team Members use or wear the protective equipment required by Magna Structures Tennessee LLC.Members of any potential hazards and/or provide written instructions as to the measures to protect the Team MemberTake every precaution reasonable in the circumstances for the protection of a Team Member and report any known contravention out of their control to their BU Leader/ManagerConduct accident / incident investigations and implement corrective actions and Continued ImprovementsConduct monthly safety inspections and implement corrective actions.

    Who we are looking forKNOWLEDGE:
    Proficiency with Advanced Product Quality Planning methodsStrong computer skills are required.

    Knowledge in OSHA safety requirementsStrong experience / knowledge in robotic programming for welding processes, preferably using Fanuc or MotoMan equipment.


    EDUCATION:
    4 Year Weld Engineering Degree or equivalent


    WORK EXPERIENCE:
    Minimum - 5 years' experience in an automotive welding engineering, design, and program development environmentResistance welding experience required.

    Prior experience in weld laboratory dutiesYour preferred qualificationsESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITIONS:
    Provide technical welding expertise to the weld lab, including personnel, equipment, documents, and records of compliance. Evaluate and make recommendations regarding current and new weld assembly processing, tooling, and equipment.
    Provide Engineering and Quality Assurance personnel as assigned with welding expertise to support existing and new customer programs.
    Develop and implement training and certification program for production associates in robotic and hand GMAW/TIG welding techniques and procedures.
    Develop and implement work instructions for part fit-up, tack, weld, and repair requirements.
    Develop and implement parameters for weld length, leg length, throat length, penetration, and structural quality for welded automotive assemblies.
    Develop and implement a training program for maintenance technicians in the troubleshooting and repair of robotic GMAW welding equipment.
    Develop and implement a training program for troubleshooting and problem solving of welding issues.
    Participate in APQP processes relating to the design of weld assembly work cells and tooling.
    Recommend design changes to improve quality, reliability, and productivity of welding processes.
    Develop and implement documents and procedures for validation of welding equipment and processes to meet or exceed customer specifications.
    Supervise and manage the setup and programming of robots for welding.
    Promote continual improvement in weld quality and weld processes.
    Maintain weld drawings.
    Achieve department objectives in support of company production, quality, and safety goals.

    Work effectively with Q.A., Engineering and Production departments' associates for continual improvement of department methods, procedures, and policies; assist in the implementation of.

    Communicate effectively with company personnel, customers, and vendors.

    Attend and participate in department meetings, plant meetings, and training; participate in customer visitations as designated by the department manager.

    Support new program launches and customer expectations.
    Provide reports as required by the Engineering Manager or other departments.
    Participate in Continual Improvement activities.
    Adhere to customer requirements, Business Operating System, and company policies.
    Perform other duties as assigned.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
    The work environment is a combination of office and manufacturing plant, with an emphasis on manufacturing plant.

    The individual must be able to perform all essential functions as appropriate on the plant floor, in meetings, and with employees, management, customers and suppliers.

    Flexible hours are required.
    Requires travel to customer and tooling facilities as needed.
    Able to work flexible and additional hours as required.
