    Description

Emory University is a leading research university that fosters excellence and attracts world-class talent to innovate today and prepare leaders for the future.

We welcome candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of our academic community.

The Department of Radiation Oncology of Emory University School of Medicine is soliciting applications for a full-time radiation oncology physician at the Assistant, Associate or Professor level to help grow and expand community outreach efforts and the clinical practice at Emory Proton Therapy Center.

This is an exciting opportunity to join an outstanding team dedicated to improving the lives of our patients, families, and communities through compassionate healing, advanced technology, innovation, and research-driven care.

The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional clinical and interpersonal skills, a commitment to building and expanding professional networks for care collaboration, and an eagerness to engage in outreach efforts focused on advancing awareness and education on the appropriate utilization of proton therapy.

This faculty position would provide clinical care primarily at Emory Proton Therapy Center.

Working with the Medical Director and with the support of the center's marketing and outreach team, this faculty position will allocate a portion of their time in community engagement events and in building and strengthening partnerships with regional physicians.

    About Emory Proton Therapy Center

Opened in December 2018, Emory Proton Therapy Center has treated over 3000 patients.

The center is a free-standing outpatient cancer care center located adjacent to Winship at Emory Midtown, a thriving hub of multidisciplinary care centrally located in Atlanta.

Emory faculty and staff provide all clinical services at the center, with 16 radiation oncology physician faculty treating patients at the center alongside 10 proton medical physicists and 4 advanced practice providers.

As the only proton therapy center in the state of Georgia, the center is a regional resource, and a significant component of our patient care involves collaboration with community and regional physicians to partner in care of their most complex and challenging cases.

The center uses Varian's ProBeam system with five clinical rooms (4 fully-rotational gantries and 1 fixed beam room), with all rooms equipped with pencil beam scanning and cone-beam CT in all gantry rooms.

The center has a dual energy CT simulator and a 1.5 T MRI used for treatment planning and diagnostic imaging.

Additional assets for patient care include SDX for motion management, sedation and anesthesia services, a procedure suite for fiducials and hydrogel placement, and point of care labs.

Patients are supported by a dedicated dietician, child life specialist, social work services, and a patient-experience team.

In addition to a robust clinical practice, the center features as a significant component of our physician resident and medical physicist resident training, with an active research program including many cooperative group and investigator-initiated clinical trials open at the proton center.
