    Please note: The start date for this position is Monday, July 1, 2024, and the end date is Friday, December 27, 2024. You are expected to be available to work during that entire time period if you accept this position.

    The co-op position supports the entire BRI/ORC staff. Activities will include tasks related to BRI/ORC data analytics, funding opportunities, web development, and other activities.

    The co-op will work on various administrative tasks related to both offices. These include assisting in hosting events for the research community; managing the workflow of funding opportunities and preparing materials for review; supporting BRI/ORC staff in creating and maintaining collaborative resource lists to aid researchers in finding those resources; and collecting, analyzing, and creating simple representations of metrics from ongoing and past BRI funding mechanisms and programs. They might also be asked to assist with drafting minutes, making PowerPoint presentations, etc.

    The co-op will also have the opportunity to work closely with other areas of the BRI/ORC team and get additional training according to their interests, including web development (WordPress), strategic communication (Constant Contact, social media, Microsoft Teams), and information design and presentation (Airtable, Excel, REDCap).

    A crucial part of the co-op is being able to work with the BRI/ORC staff in a flexible manner and being responsive to the evolving needs of the institutes. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently, have strong oral and written communication skills, and possess basic Microsoft Office knowledge.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Reports to the BRI Executive Director and works under the ORC Project Coordinator, BRI Web Media Manager & Creative Designer, and BRI Science Director.
    • On-going responsibilities include managing the English as a Second Language (ESL) course applications & certificates, preparing materials for review for the Faculty Career Development Award & Research Staff Excellence Awards, and potentially assisting with the BRI Undergraduate Research Summer Internship Program if it runs (including curriculum organization, reaching out to speakers, booking rooms, etc.).
    • Co-Op will be trained on various systems and platforms to support these activities, including Wordpress, Airtable, Microsoft Teams, and others as needed, where Co-Op may create webpages, add event listings, manage data, etc. Co-Op will be responsible for adhering to the communications and web standards.
    • Ad-hoc project-based responsibilities include being responsible for collecting and analyzing metrics from ongoing and past BRI funding mechanisms, drafting 'requests for proposals' for new funding mechanisms, assisting with events, etc.
    • The co-op may also be asked to support collaborations with other entities (e.g. BWH Faculty Development and Wellbeing, Brigham Research Education, Center for Diversity and Inclusion), under the supervision of BRI/ORC staff, with responsibilities to include identifying, collecting information on, and preparing for display a subset of resources and services offered by other offices across the hospital.
    • Other duties as required.

    This is a temporary, full-time position.

    Remote/flexible -- most of the BRI/ORC team is primarily remote, coming in 1-2 times per week or as needed for hybrid events. There is a physical office at 45 Francis St, Boston, MA, where this position will have the option of shared desk space, as well as hoteling desk space available on request in Assembly Row, Somerville, MA.
