    Job Summary

    This is a high-flexibility "Zone Float" position within the Healthsystem. As a Zone 4 Float RN, you will have

    no home-base facility . Instead, you will be assigned to various units across a 60-mile radius in Western Kansas.

    This role is designed for a versatile clinician capable of supporting Med-Surg and Telemetry units, including various specialties such as Cardiac, Neuro, and Trauma.

    Floating Requirements (Zone 4)

    Travelers are required to float between the three facilities.

    You will receive your specific facility assignment at the start of each schedule or on the Monday of your start date:

    Key Responsibilities


    Acuity Adaptability:


    Primarily support MS/Tele units but must be willing to float to PCU/Stepdown or ICU (to care for low-acuity "holds" within your skillset).


    Clinical Management:
    Manage patient ratios of

    1:5–6

    depending on acuity.

    Specialized Care:
    Care for a broad population including Cardiac, Neuro, Oncology, Renal, and Post-Surgical patients (Ortho, General Surgery, GYN).

    Drip Management:
    Manage set-rate drips and titrate

    Heparin

    as required.

    Telemetry:
    Monitor cardiac rhythms; though monitor techs are often present, RNs are responsible for reading and interpreting strips.
    Requirements & Qualifications


    Experience:

    • Minimum
    2 years

    of MS/Tele experience within the last 3 years.

    Prior Neuro experience is highly preferred.
    Experience with

    Alaris pumps

    and

    Epic EMR

    is preferred.


    Licensure:
    Valid Kansas or Compact RN License required at submission.

    Certifications:

    BLS
    (AHA)

    ACLS
    (AHA)

    NIHSS
    (Stroke Certification)


    Compliance:
    Must submit a Driver's License (DL) with your application.
    Assignment Details & Expectations


    Hiring Process:
    Conducted by the MedSol Clinical Team; no interview with a specific unit manager.

    Scheduling:
    Management creates a 6-week schedule. Travelers must be flexible to fill gaps; block scheduling is not guaranteed.

    Weekends:
    Requirement of

    6–9 weekend shifts

    per 6-week cycle.

    Radius Rule:
    Candidates residing within 60 miles of the zone center may be restricted or subject to local rates.

    Orientation:
    12-hour orientation. Clinicians must be physically in the state of Kansas for orientation week.
    The Role of the Float Nurse

    In a zone-float model, nurses act as critical "surge" support for regional hospitals.

    This model ensures that rural facilities, like Bob Wilson Memorial, have access to high-level clinical expertise during periods of high census.
