    NJ TRANSIT Job Opportunity: Claims Manager

    Roles and Responsibilities:

    • Lead and manage claims staff to handle investigations, negotiations, and resolutions for various claims effectively and in compliance with industry standards.
    • Support defense counsel in trial preparation by strategizing trial approaches, selecting expert witnesses, and managing high-value cases.
    • Facilitate settlements with the Attorney General's Office and external counsel, attend relevant legal proceedings, and provide recommendations to resolve cases.
    • Adapt policies to reflect changes in the legal landscape, industry trends, and court decisions to safeguard NJ TRANSIT's assets.
    • Enhance department efficiency by coordinating programs and initiatives across departments and agencies.
    • Represent NJ TRANSIT in arbitration, grievance procedures, and labor negotiations.
    • Provide regular reports on case updates and maintain casualty reserves in line with policies.
    • Arrange training opportunities for staff development and oversee performance evaluations.
    • Assign and review claims, prepare responses to legal actions, and assist with special projects as needed.

    Education, Experience, and Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
    • Minimum of seven (7) years experience in claims management and supervision
    • Prior supervisory experience

    Knowledge and Skills:

    • Proficiency in New Jersey law, including Title 59
