    Job Description Summary

    The Temporary Research Assistant is available to assist with studies on structural changes of glycoproteins from herpes simplex virus.

    Job Description

    This position is available to assist with studies on structural changes of glycoproteins from herpes simplex virus. He/she will assist in evaluating how herpes simplex virus glycoprotein length affects protein structure, function, and immunogenicity.

    He/she will perform scientific literature search, generate data from ELISA and western blotting assays, complete data entry and analyze data individually and in collaboration with Principal Investigators and other researchers - with the intent of presenting research results in laboratory meetings.


    The ideal candidate will:

    • Evaluate sera samples for the presence of anti-HSV antibodies against functional epitopes using biosensor technology.
    • Gather data for presentations.
    • Evaluate soluble HSV proteins of differing lengths by Western blot, ELISA, and biosensor.
    • Develop conceptual ideas for the comparison of HSV glycoproteins.
    • Perform additional duties as assigned.
    High school diploma is required, with 0-1 years of related experience in research. Knowledge of Microsoft Office is required. Basic knowledge of biosensor technology is an advantage. Strong interpersonal skills are highly desired.

    Participating in setting and developing laboratory assays, data analysis and published literature analysis.

    The ideal candidate must be highly organized, detail oriented, with computer and communication skills.
