    The Civil Rights Specialist will work collaboratively with the Executive Director & Title IX Coordinator ("Executive Director") to ensure that the University is in compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements for Title IX, Title VI, Title VII, Americans with Disabilities Act, and all other discrimination and harassment federal and state laws and regulations, and applicable University policies.

    The Civil Rights Specialist will assist the Executive Director with ensuring prompt, effective, and equitable intake, investigations, and timely resolution of all complaints and serve as a strategic partner to create and implement practices that foster a culture of respect.

    Required Qualifications

    A Juris Doctor degree with at least one year of relevant experience;

    OR

    Master's Degree in a field related to criminal justice, law, social work, compliance, investigations, policy or procedure and at least two years of experiencing conducting investigations and writing reports summarizing findings and making recommendations;

    OR


    Bachelor's Degree in a field related to criminal justice, law, social work, compliance, investigations, policy or procedure and at least four years of experience conducting investigations and writing reports summarizing findings and making recommendations.

    Preferred Qualifications


    Preferred:

    • Demonstrated knowledge of and the ability to interpret applicable federal, state, local laws and regulations relevant to higher education, and Title IX, VAWA, and Clery Act
    • Ability to handle complex situations, including responding to parties in a sensitive and informed manner, and managing multiple, ongoing, and complex caseloads in a timely manner
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills, quality critical thinking and creative problem solving skills
    • Proficient computer skills, including working within database systems for tracking and case management
    • Proficient interpersonal skills to communicate with diverse populations and sensitivity to culturally diverse contexts and environments
    • Understanding of, and commitment to, supporting an equitable and respectful environment.
    • The ability to maintain confidentiality, manage difficult and sensitive issues with professionalism, maintain neutrality and perform duties impartially.

    The annual salary for this position starts at $65,000 and may go up from there depending on candidate qualifications. The position comes with a generous benefits package.
