Reports To: Maintenance Supervisor

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:

Works at all Chattanooga locations. Installs, maintains, and repairs machinery, equipment, piping, electrical and electronic systems by performing the following duties. Performs electrical conduit runs and maintains the electrical & controls systems to operate effectively & efficiently.

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Visually inspects and listens to machines and equipment to locate causes of malfunctions to include testing of machinery and equipment
• Listens for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discusses machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problem or repair machine
• Performs proper scheduling of work to maximize task completion with minimal plant disruption, reduction in unscheduled downtime, while lowering costs and creating higher plant efficiency
• Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts
• Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery
• Installs and repairs electrical apparatus, such as transformers and wiring, electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment
• Look for visible wear or defects on machinery daily
• Lays out, assembles, installs, and maintains pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment
• Sets up and operates machine tools such as drill press, band saw, and grinder to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs and fixtures, and tools
• Operates cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts
• Fabricates and repairs counters, benches, partitions, and other wooden structures
• Helps with training others as needed
• Comply with Pager and Call-in for Supervisor on occasion
• Troubleshoots, diagnoses, and assists in repair of machine malfunctions to include programmable controllers; performs routine cleaning, and maintenance
• Plans and performs work requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical/electronic, mechanical theories and principles, writing specifications, local and national electrical codes, properties of various materials, principles of operation, and application of electronic equipment
• Document jobs completed including repairs made and update electrical panels
• Operate test equipment including but not limited to multi-meters, amp-probes, meg-ohm meters, oscilloscopes, etc.
• Be familiar with ARC Flash safety regulations and requirements
• Start to finish of running electric circuits from cabinet to equipment, etc. including running and bending of conduit
• Must be able to read, comprehend, understand and troubleshoot and repair electrical systems up to 480v, 3 phase, read and interpret electrical schematic diagrams and drawings
• Works with Supervisor on purchasing, ordering of parts and inventory
• Balances workload between Electrical and Class A Maintenance duties with priority to electrical
• Follows all safety related policies, rules, regulations, technical instructions, and guidelines. Situational awareness and identify unsafe behaviors and conditions
• Maintain a clean work environment including the machine, floors, desks, and fans in accordance with our 5S system

AUTHORITY: Must have the ability to lead a crew that has been placed with them to execute the demands of the maintenance operation efficiently and to respond to oral instructions from the supervisor and written instructions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school, or one year related manufacturing experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. At least four years' experience on 110, 277, and 480 volt systems. Journeyman electrical license a plus. Ability to travel to locations within the Chattanooga area.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Must have the ability to read and understand documents, letters, etc. and write legibly in English. Must be able to understand and speak clearly, communicate, and understand directions in English as needed. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Able to calculate figures, amounts such as proportions, area, circumference, and volume. Apply the concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Must become a Certified Fork Lift operator in accordance with SCT training and carry a copy of your certification with you. Journeyman license preferred. Maintain valid CDL driver's license and be able to be on SCT Driver list.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, regularly required to walk, stand, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls and reach with arms and hands. Frequently is required to climb, balance, twist, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Frequently lifts/moves 25 to 50 pounds. Must be able to perform these functions for a minimum of 8 hours straight (with a 30-minute meal break any other applicable breaks during the shift) on a regular basis. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a Team member successfully performing the essential functions of this job. Regular attendance and reporting for work on time are necessary requirements as is availability for overtime work if necessary.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Exposure to a dusty atmosphere with loud noise, which may require both eye and ear protection in some areas. Moving mechanical parts will also be exposed; safety guards have been put in place for the safety of all Team members but during set up, if a machine must be broken down and reassembled to complete the next job, questions regarding such operation should be directed to your supervisor as they arise.
