    Essential Job Functions and Performance Standards

    • Perform detailed engineering analysis on structural components and systems using Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) programs.
    • Build-up and analyze CAE models of Node-based vehicle structures for crash/safety performance validations using hand calculations, topology optimization and CAD/CAE tools.
    • Engage in crash/nonlinear analyses of structural components, subsystems, and full vehicles using LS-DYNA.
    • Create non-linear material models for advanced materials for crash analysis with material failure methods implemented.
    • Create, refine and execute new technical solutions for vehicle structures to support internal vehicle programs and joint development efforts with external customers.
    • Write and present detailed analysis reports to relevant test engineers to ensure component and system-level testing is performed.
    • Collaborate in a team environment within the Structures team and cross-functionally with other disciplines to design and release structures that are optimized for efficient production and assembly while achieving safety targets.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a closely related field.
    • At least TWO (2) years of experience in the job offered, OR at least TWO (2) years of experience with the following:

    1.Crash/non-linear analyses of structural components, subsystems, and full vehicles using LS-DYNA

    2.Crash-tests (component or sub-assembly level)

    3.Finite element method and its application to the analysis of automotive mechanical systems

    4.Post-processing and reviewing CAE results

    • Two years of experience must also include at least ONE (1) year of experience in the following:

    5.Developing and evaluating analysis (CAE) models for components, assemblies and full vehicles

    6.Facilitating suspension and mechanisms development by conducting strength and fatigue CAE analysis using Abaqus and nCode DesignLife

    7.Facilitating nonlinear material model development with fracture characterization for CAE crash models

    8.Generating and presenting CAE reports to design engineers and making recommendations for design improvements for automotive design

    $125,000 - $150,000 a year
