    Job Description Salary:
    $80k - $105k

    Mowat Mackie & Anderson is looking to add a bright, resourceful, intellectually curious, and organized Senior Tax Accountant to its team.

    This position is responsible for performing complex tax preparation, tax research, and tax planning with minimal supervision.

    Additionally, they provide work direction and technical guidance to less experienced staff, and initiates contact with clients to resolve tax matters.

    This position requires an ability to take initiative, attention to detail, ability to learn quickly, ability to build internal relationships, ability to work with senior leadership, excellent communication skills, and prioritize daily tasks.

    Your responsibilities will include:
    Prepares increasingly complex tax returns.
    Consistently exhibits a well-rounded knowledge of tax laws and return preparation.
    Effectively demonstrates a thorough understanding of the tax return process and completion.
    Provide tax planning for individuals and business entities.
    Continues to develop a command of pertinent IRC sections and regulations.
    Verifies information by comparing and analyzing items to documentation.
    Proficient at research including knowledge of the reference sources available to the firm.
    Participates actively in client meetings.
    Initiate client contact for planning and scheduling work.
    Actively shows an ability to set and manage client expectations.
    Demonstrate critical self-review skills.
    Possess technical knowledge sufficient to supervise staff accountants.

    Consistently strive to provide a complete work product that is organized, in compliance with workflow standards, and can be efficiently reviewed by managers and partners.

    Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications and new regulations.
    Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
    Meets chargeable hour goal as determined by partners


    Desired Skills and Experience:
    At least 4 years of recent experience performing all phases of audits and reviews for privately held companies.
    Licensed CPA.
    Strong written and oral communication skills.
    Develop a basic working knowledge of QuickBooks.
    Strong understanding of GAAP and review standards.
    Requires sufficient analytical skills to assess problems or unusual situations and quickly determine efficient solutions.
    Demonstrates a solid working knowledge of CCH Products (CCH Axcess, Engagement, XCM, Client Portal, etc).


    Additional Knowledge and Skills:
    Familiar with the public accounting line of work (hours, schedule, expectations).
    Able to prioritize, multitask, work under pressure and handle interruptions while maintaining flexibility in work assignments.
    Ability to independently perform all the duties of the position efficiently and effectively.
    Comfortable providing feedback.
    Ability to be flexible in response to changing priorities and needs.
    You are highly collaborative and team-oriented.
    Ability to work under pressure in a deadline-oriented business.
    You work well with little direction but know when to ask for help and keep your team informed.
