    JOB TITLE: Prep Cook
    REPORTS TO: General Manager CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt
    DEPARTMENT: Restaurant Operations LEVEL: Back of the House

    SUMMARY OF POSITION: Full-time or part-time position. The prep cook is responsible for preparing ingredients for Farmer Boys menu items efficiently, making decisions independently. Providing crew members with what they need quickly and in a friendly manner is key in this role. Additional tasks may be assigned.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Follow food safety and sanitation procedures as directed
    • Prepare ingredients according to specifications and weights
    • Ensure correct portioning, sizing, and freshness
    • Use food preparation sheet to maintain stock levels
    • Notify managers of any questionable perishable items
    • Operate and clean food preparation equipment
    • Report spoilage and poor-quality products
    • Assist line cooks when necessary
    • Maintain cleanliness in work areas
    • Adhere to the posted work schedule

    Specific Responsibilities

    • Ensure product safety standards
    • Notify management of any food safety risks
    • Attend food safety training
    • Follow safety procedures for accidents or injuries
    • Protect assets and practice safe work habits
    • Read and follow safety instructions

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

    • Minimum age requirement: 18 years
    • Understand quality food products and food safety
    • Ability to follow instructions
    • Possess State or County mandated Food Handler Card
    • Comfortable with kitchen environments
    • Physical requirements include standing, walking, bending, stooping, and lifting

    WORK EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

    • High School Diploma or G.E.D. required
    • 0-3 years of cooking experience in a restaurant or food service establishment
