    Description

    The Advanced Practice Nurse working in the Clinical Evaluation Center is responsible for completing the initial admission work-up of assigned patients, and providing a plan of care on the inpatient unit.

    The supervising psychiatrist will review all information and orders with the APN Provides comprehensive assessment of patient's current health status, and indication for psychopharmocological interventions.

    Completes all initial orders for patient, including medications, privileges, consultations, diet, laboratory work, etc.

    (Advanced Practice Nurses with prescriptive authority privileges)

    Evaluates quality of care given by self and peers.

    For trainees and staff, identifies learning needs and provides clinical supervision for designated individuals.

    Maintains commitment to professional growth and competency through on-going activities that promote professional role development.


    Contributes to effective interpersonal and community relations to ensure quality of patient care, and to promote a positive image of McLean Hospital.

    Contributes to other productivity and cost effectiveness of the CEC


    Education:
    Masters degree from an accredited school of nursing.


    Licensure:
    Current licensure in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a Registered Nurse in the Advanced Practice role. DEA and DPH licensure for those in the prescribing role.


    Skills:
    Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work cooperatively with others.


    Experience:
    Minimum of 24 months experience working as a staff nurse in an adult inpatient psychiatric setting or related experience.


    Certification:
    ANA certified as an Advanced Practice Nurse. Certification as either a Clinical Specialist in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing or as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner.


    All employees must possess basic computer skills to use a variety of electronic or online systems for communication, clinical and administrative purposes.


    For eCare Clinical Positions:
    Required to complete electronic medical records training, and demonstrate 80% accuracy on competency test within 30 days of hire.
