    Position is for post-graduate training in a structured physical therapy fellowship program under the supervision of a Fellowship Director, Coordinator and other physical therapists.

    Through the training program, the incumbent assesses patients, develops and initiates treatment plans based on the results of the evaluation.

    In addition to clinical practice, the fellow will receive mentoring and didactic training over a 9 to 12 month period.

    If a medical diagnosis has already been established by a qualified healthcare practitioner, the physical therapist will take it into consideration during the evaluation process.

    Bachelor's or graduate degree in physical therapy from an accredited university-based physical therapy program.


    Licenses/Certifications:
    Current or temporary license to practice Physical Therapy by Texas Board of Physical Therapy Examiners or by the Physical Therapy Compact Commission

    Completed post-graduate education evidenced by 1 of the 2 following criteria: a) Graduate of an ABPTRFE accredited physical therapy residency with completion of Emergency Response for the Athlete (ERA) or equivalent (ATC, EMT, etc.) Fine hand dexterity, eye-hand coordination, the ability to receive oral and written communication, and to communicate verbally and in writing are also necessary.

    The visual ability to monitor instruments, computers and equipment, recognize alphanumeric characters, distinguish colors and observe physical characteristics are essential to this position.

    Participates and completes in all aspects of Division 1 Sports Physical Therapy Fellowship Program including reporting, mentoring sessions, clinical and didactic training, and other duties or requirements as assigned.

    Implements physical therapy treatment program and provides basic physical therapy treatments. Demonstrates competency in performing basic physical therapy skills. Responsible for patient care performed by assistants and rehabilitation technicians. Documents appropriately in the medical record and completes other documentation duties accurately and efficiently.

    Ensures safe care of patients by adhering to policies, procedures and standards, within budgetary specifications, including time management, supply management, productivity, flexibility based on patient census and accuracy of practice.

    Provide treatment in all areas of the department, which may include inpatients, outpatients, weekends and holidays.

    Presents relevant special topics in professional literature at clinic meetings, grand rounds, conferences, university settings and meetings as delegated or requested by the faculty.
