    SUPERVISOR: Asylum Seeker Program Manager

    HOURS: 8:30-5 Monday-Friday, occasional evenings

    CLASSIFICATION: Full time/ Hourly/Non-Exempt TRAVEL / LOCATION: Vive

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    • 1-2 years' experience in case work for vulnerable populations
    • Associate or bachelor's degree in related field preferred.
    • Ability to be a creative problem solver who can take direction from supervisor and collaborate with others
    JOB SUMMARY: The Asylum Seeker Program Case Worker is responsible for ensuring a successful resettlement of asylum seekers through provision of pre-migration and post-arrival responsibilities; assists asylum seeking clients to achieve self-sufficiency; responsible for coordinating all departmental case work services (pre and post arrival) under supervision of

    Essential Job Duties

    PRE-ARRIVAL ACTIVITIES
    • Working with the Housing Coordinator to assist with apartment acquisition process
    • Ensures housing rental, apartment and utility service set-up provided per funding guidelines
    • Coordinates airport pick-up and hot meal provision
    POST-ARRIVAL ACTIVITIES
    • Ensures core services provision per funding guidelines (home visits, financial package, government benefits, medical, school, ESL, cultural orientation) of new arrivals
    • Communicates --and ensures that others on team communicate—the "temporary teaching role" of agency to foster future independence and self-sufficiency
    • Ensures transition to employment and other programs, in the post-early resettlement period
    • Participates in provision/referral of intensive case management for most vulnerable
    • Ensures use of interpretation, when needed, and ensures interpreter communicates correct instructions to client
    • Advocates and educates a variety of providers, including welfare, educational, healthcare and others regarding culturally sensitive issues related to Asylum Seeking Families
    ADMINISTRATION
    • Creates and maintains resettlement files; coordinates file reviews
    • Maintains accurate written and electronic records in accordance with funding and agency requirements
    • Ensures compliance and timely documentation with MRAP Program requirements through coordination with department staff
    • Prepares case notes on all contacts with or on behalf of clients as soon as possible after they happen
    • Participates in departmental staff and planning meetings
    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods. Exert up to 50lbs. pushing, pulling, or lifting. Walking and climbing stairs required. Able to talk/hear and communicate with others with or without reasonable accommodation.

    TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to travel to sites while maintaining standards of safety and compliance with motor vehicle traffic laws. This position may require travel for necessary training and conferences.
