    Paynesville Area Elementary SchoolPaynesville Area Community Education is in search of a Wraparound Care (PAWS) Site Leader beginning the School Year.


    JOB SUMMARY:

    Provide daily site leadership of the Wraparound Care (PAWS) School Age Child Care Program for the residents of the Paynesville Area School District.


    ASSIGNMENT:
    July 1 -June hours/day 220 days.

    7:30-3:15 pm Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Director of Community Education.

    % of Time:
    Major Areas of Responsibility

    30% Develops and plans Wraparound Care (PAWS) Program Activities.

    A. Develops daily plans and activities using approved curriculum

    B. Account for and manage daily snack distribution.

    C. Research topics, materials, and information to improve effective program services.

    D. Keep accurate attendance records and maintain children's records and files

    E. Maintain and turn in supply requests for approval. Complete and submit supply and equipment inventory at the end of the year

    F. Communicates all necessary program information daily with the PAWS Coordinator.

    70% Conducts Wraparound Care (PAWS) Site Leadership based on established policies and procedures. A. Plan and implement the daily curriculum, in accordance with the Parent Aware Standards and district policies. B.

    Direct the supervision of children involved in the program and oversee preparation of materials required to implement the daily lesson plans.


    C. Be an active game and project leader by developing, planning, coordinating lessons, directing staff and participating in activities.

    D. Reinforces program rules and behavior expectations.

    E. Decides if child behavior is appropriate and how to deal with behavior problems. F. Communicate daily with parents regarding special concerns, observations of their children, noting positive behaviors as much as possible.

    G. Make adjustments to staffing numbers based on the number of children in attendance H. Maintain a responsible discipline procedure and report persistent behavior problems to the PAWS Coordinator.

    Physical Involvement:
    A. Requires vitality to accomplish numerous tasks and processes.

    B. Position requires extended periods of standing when directing or leading an activity.

    C. Occasionally requires extended periods of sitting during meetings and desk work. D.

    Frequently requires bending, stooping, or sitting on the floor to perform classroom activities or to provide one on one assistance.


    E. Frequently performs keyboarding activities for program planning.

    F. May lift equipment or supplies typically not to exceed 25 pounds.


    Mental Involvement:
    A. Position requires working with many children who have varying levels of abilities and skills.

    B. Position requires the ability to work with interruptions, handle multiple tasks and organize and prioritize work assignments.

    C. Position requires interpersonal and conflict resolution skills in dealing with students and parents.

    D.

    Position requires prioritizing work duties, organizing classroom settings, and taking initiative to explore new activities and ideas to enhance student learning.



    Working Conditions:
    Normal classroom conditions with periods of outdoor recreation programming and supervision.

    Staff Management


    • Provide supervision for scheduled Wraparound Care (PAWS) programs and activities. 2. Director in the selection and evaluation of Wraparound Care (PAWS) staff.
    • Assist in the development of inservice activities for Wraparound Care (PAWS) Staff Members. 4. Assist the Director in evaluating Wraparound Care (PAWS) Program Offerings.
    Public Relations


    • Become familiar with the social and economic character of the community.
    • Establish a good working relationship with the school staff, community organizations and District 741 residents.
    • Help promote awareness of Wraparound Care (PAWS) Programs & Activities within the community.
    Administration


    • Participate in the development of long range program goals for the Wraparound Care (PAWS) Program.
    2. Perform other Wraparound Care (PAWS) Program tasks as assigned by the Community Education Director.


    • Participate in seminars and conferences to improve job performance.
    • Attend and report annually at one Community Education Advisory Council Meeting and other committee/staff meetings as necessary.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    Education:
    A. High school graduate or equivalent.


    Experience:
    A. Childcare programming experience preferred

    B. Desktop publishing experience preferred


    Special Knowledge or Skills:
    A. Ability to communicate effectively.

    B. General clerical skills.

    C. Experience working with computers/data processing.

    D. Ability to follow directions.

    E. First Aid training is required for all Wraparound Care (PAWS) employees F. CPR training is required for all Wraparound Care (PAWS) employees

    Equipment, Machines, Tools, Electronic Devices, Software:

    A. Computers are used on a regular basis.

    B. Printer is used on a regular basis.

    C. Facsimile machines are used occasionally.

    D. Proficiency required on Microsoft Word and Desktop Publishing

    E. Calculator is used occasionally.
