- Prepare patients for endoscopic procedures, providing education, reassurance, and support throughout the process.
- Assist physicians and advanced practice providers during endoscopic procedures, ensuring patient safety, comfort, and adherence to procedural protocols.
- Monitor patients' vital signs, sedation levels, and responses to treatment during procedures, intervening as needed to address any complications or changes in patient status.
- Administer conscious sedation and other medications as prescribed by providers, following established protocols and guidelines.
- Maintain a sterile field and assist with the setup and cleanup of endoscopic equipment and supplies.
- Document all aspects of patient care accurately and in compliance with regulatory requirements, including pre-procedure assessments, intra-procedure monitoring, and post-procedure recovery.
- Provide post-procedure care and discharge instructions to patients and their families, including information on dietary restrictions, activity limitations, and follow-up appointments.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, including physicians, anesthesia providers, technicians, and support staff, to ensure seamless coordination of care for patients undergoing endoscopic procedures.
- Adhere to infection control protocols, safety guidelines, and organizational policies to maintain a safe and hygienic environment for patients and staff.
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- Minimum of two years of clinical nursing experience, with experience in endoscopy nursing preferred.
- Certification in gastroenterology nursing (CGRN) or willingness to obtain certification within one year of hire.
- Strong assessment, communication, and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize patient care needs.
