Registered Nurse- Nurse Family Partnership - Indiana, United States - Goodwill of Central & Southern Indiana

    Default job background
    Description

Are you seeking a unique nursing career that supports and empowers first-time parents within your local community? Are you looking for a flexible job with a fixed salary and no set weekends or holidays?

This role is based in Central Indiana, so it's ideal for candidates living in the Marion County/Indianapolis area for convenience.

The Nurse-Family Partnership (NFP) program, operated by Goodwill of Central and Southern Indiana, is a proven initiative that significantly enhances outcomes for at-risk women and their children. Nurse Home Visitors provide guidance and assistance to first-time expectant mothers starting from pregnancy through the child's second birthday.

Nurse-Family Partnership (NFP) is a maternal and early childhood home visiting program that promotes lasting success for new parents, their infants, and society as a whole. This program connects vulnerable first-time parents with registered nurses who offer the necessary support for a healthy pregnancy, informed parenting, and a strong start for their babies. Through statistical data, Nurse-Family Partnership has shown marked improvements in outcomes for at-risk individuals and their families receiving services in various communities.

The Nurse in this position builds therapeutic relationships and applies reflective and motivational interviewing techniques with clients and their families during home visits. By following a client-centered, strengths-based, and solution-focused approach, the Nurse maintains the highest clinical nursing standards and adheres to NFP protocols and Goodwill of Central and Southern Indiana guidelines. The Nurse works alongside other Nurse Home Visitors and a Nurse Supervisor as part of a team.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Conduct home visits following the NFP model, maintaining a client caseload and aiming to assist 25 or more clients.
    • Evaluate clients' physical, emotional, social, and environmental needs within the NFP framework.
    • Help clients establish and achieve goals through education, support, and resource referrals.
    • Coordinate access to community resources from NFP Guides, Goodwill staff, and external professionals.
    • Formulate nursing diagnoses based on assessments and client goals, tracking progress towards objectives and NFP outcomes.

    Development and Support:

    • Participate in professional development to meet NFP Nurse Home Visitor competency requirements.
    • Engage in reflective practice during supervisory meetings with the NFP Nurse Supervisor.
    • Attend joint home visits with the NFP Nurse Supervisor periodically.
    • Join case conferences and staff meetings on a rotating basis each week.
    • Identify learning needs, establish goals, and track progress, staying updated on healthcare developments.

    Documentation and Quality:

    • Maintain accurate documentation, safeguarding private information and inputting data promptly and accurately into the NFP system.
    • Participate in reviews, evaluate reports, and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.

    Building Relationships:

    • Engage in community coalitions to represent NFP and raise awareness of the program.
    • Portray the NFP model and Goodwill of Central and Southern Indiana's core values to internal and external stakeholders.

    Requirements:

    • Degree and Certification: Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) or Associate's degree in Nursing (ASN) with plans to pursue a BSN within 5 years of employment. Current Indiana Registered Nurse (RN) status required or obtained before the start date.
    • Communication Skills: Demonstrate effective oral, written, visual, and non-verbal communication skills, with the ability to understand and address others' needs.
    • Adaptability: Quickly adjust priorities in fast-changing situations while maintaining a positive outlook and preventing crises.
    • Teamwork: Collaborate effectively in teams to achieve organizational goals and desired outcomes.

    Additional Criteria:

    • Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends.
    • Valid driver's license, current auto insurance, and a good driving record required.
    • Willingness to travel to Denver, CO for in-person educational sessions.
    • Active CPR certification maintained throughout employment.

Perks: Our competitive benefits package includes:

    • Paid time off and holidays
    • Opportunities for continuing education, leadership development, and tuition reimbursement
    • Comprehensive health, dental, vision, and other medical plans
    • Life insurance, disability coverage, and parental/sabbatical leaves
    • Retirement investment options with employer match
    • Health and wellness programs, pretax spending accounts, and monthly cell phone reimbursement
