    As the Facilities Engineer you will ensure the efficient and safe operation of all physical infrastructure, systems, and equipment within the facility. You will interact with QC, QA, Tech services, IT, Procurement, Materials Management, Laboratories, other departments, external vendors and government agencies as required.

    Responsibilities:
    • Responsible for all aspects of facilities mechanical and electromechanical piping system such as water supply, compressed air, plant steam, waste treatment, Life Safety systems, Clean Utilities operations (pure steam, USP water, WFI).
    • Oversees the activities of hourly Maintenance employees providing technical training, development and may support feedback on annual performance reviews.
    • Provides support on equipment and systems including BMS/EMS, HVAC and electrical infrastructure.
    • Interacts with other Facility and Maintenance team members and as the SME/S (Subject Matter Expert/Specialist) provides support in their effort to effect maintenance work and plan any other short term or long-term project.
    • Ensure equipment maintenance (scheduled and non-scheduled) is performed on equipment/systems of area of responsibility.
    • Troubleshoot mechanical piping and electromechanical systems, chilled water, condenser loop and humidification problems related to the HVAC system.
    • Interact with contractors to ensure maintenance and repair services are performed to specified requirements and following all safety protocols.
    • Develop budgets and manage execution of capital and expense projects to support the site.
    • Conducts Quality Assurance related investigations and provides support to ensure timely completion of action items.
    • Responsible for the preventive maintenance and repair program for the site including facilities, mechanical/electromechanical equipment, Life Safety systems and supporting equipment sytems.
    • Build site maintenance strategy based on latest Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) principles.
      •Plans, schedules, coordinates and follow up on activities to be carried out by maintenance functions.
    • Coordinate maintenance projects with budget assessments and evaluation of timeline.
    • Supports the operation of the building management system (BMS/EMS) for evaluation of system function, troubleshooting, energy management and data update.
    • Provide Production, QC Laboratories and facilities with needed technical support and problem-solving expertise to ensure un-interrupted function of equipment and services.
    • Maintenance and installation activities follow Good Engineering Practices and design.
    • Plan, prioritize and coordinate execution of work with affected departments and vendors.
    • Ensure all safety requirements are reviewed and in place before work is executed.
    • Coordinate and oversee services given by providers and suppliers.
    • Investigate incidents and perform execution of steps to prevent them (CAPA)
    • Provide safety work permit, verify staff and contractor training on Safety Health & Environmental procedures.
    • Ensure adherence to safety SOPs when executing maintenance activities.
    • Review/approve documentation to ensure accurate, concise documentation is submitted and meets all cGMP requirements and internal SOP's.
    • Ensure efficiency of operation of equipment and building systems.
    • Organize maintenance work- reduce unexpected emergencies by managing preventive maintenance plans
    • Position may require alternate shifts/weekends for coverage.
    Requirements:
    • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a science related discipline preferred or equivalent combination of education and work related experience.
    • Minimum five (5) years of pharmaceutical industry or related experience.
    • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electromechanical systems, water supply, compressed air, plant steam, wastewater treatment, Life safety systems and HVAC systems.
    • Experience in leading and management of resources and small projects.
    • Experience in coordination of complicated maintenance tasks.
    • Experience with Hygienic pure steam and USP, WFI water systems a plus.
    • Experience with implementing reliability-based maintenance strategies
    • Knowledge and operation of Building Management System (BMS) and Environmental Management System (EMS)
    • Self-starter and work individually or in conjunction with other members of the department.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary for reporting, coordinating with teams, and collaborating with external contractors and vendors.
    • Knowledgeable about safety regulations and best practices.
    • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues and develop solutions.
    • Proficiency in using computer software for facility management and maintenance tasks.
    Physical Requirements:
    • Able to lift heavy equipment and materials and able to perform physically demanding tasks as needed.
    • Walk, climb ladders, bend, and work in tight or confined spaces.
    • Required to use PPE per facility requirements.

    Our Compensation and Benefits

    At Ferring, base salary is one part of our competitive total compensation and benefits package and is determined using a salary range. The base salary range for this role is $ 61,750 to $143,000, which is the reasonable estimate of the base compensation for this role. The actual amount paid may differ based on non-discriminatory factors such as experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, education and primary work location. Additional compensation for this role will be provided based on competitive annual incentive compensation targets in the form of an annual bonus - payouts are based on individual and company performance.

    Benefits for this role include comprehensive healthcare (medical, dental, and vision) with a premium differential, inverse to base salary, to be paid by employees, a 401k plan and company match, short and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, wellness benefits, reimbursement for certain tuition expenses, sick time of 1 hour per 30 hours worked, vacation time for full time employees to accrue up to 120 hours in the first four (4) years of employment, and 160 hours in the fifth (5th) year of employment as well as 12 to 13 paid holidays per year.
