    Job Title: Electronic Communications Technician at Ohio State Highway Patrol
    Company: Ohio Department of Public Safety


    Work Hours:
    Standard Schedule from Monday to Friday

    7:00 am to 3:00 pm

    Available 24/7 on call

    Possible Work Locations:

    Jackson Headquarters | Portsmouth - Post 73 | Lucasville

    Responsibilities:

    • Independently handle installation, repair, testing, and maintenance of electronic and communication equipment at OSHP facilities and vehicles.
    • Ensure compliance with FCC and state regulations regarding communication and electronic equipment.
    Conduct basic network service connectivity tests for radio systems, configure mobile data computer terminals, and more.

    • Install and program routers and related network equipment for radio systems, vehicle video systems, and public address systems.
    • Travel across districts for regular and emergency tasks.
    • Collaborate on designing electronic systems for OSHP facilities and vehicles.
    • Support district communication and equipment setup activities.
    • Provide MARCS training for personnel and law enforcement agencies.
    • Offer technical support on electronic systems.
    • Act as a liaison for communication planning among agencies.
    Assist supervisor with inventory management;

    • Order necessary supplies and parts.
    • Stay updated on FCC rules.
    • Train and develop subordinate technicians.
    • Perform other related electronic equipment maintenance tasks as needed.

    Requirements:
    Completion of a technical program in electronics or radio communications plus experience;

    • Or completion of an associate program in electronic engineering plus experience.
    • Or equivalent to the minimum qualifications as stated.
