Description
Position Summary:
The role of PTA - Physical Therapy Assistant involves providing direct rehab care in physical therapy to patients referred by a physician under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist (PT) while complying with all relevant laws, regulations, and Life Care standards.
Education, Experience, and
Licensure Requirements:
- Graduated from an accredited physical therapy program (ASPT)
- Currently registered/licensed in the applicable State. Must maintain an active license in good standing throughout employment.
- Preferably, one (1) year of experience in post-acute care or a related setting
- CPR certification required upon hire or to be obtained during orientation, which must remain current during employment.
Specific Job Requirements:
- Engages in community health projects as needed
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and email is essential
- Collaborates with patients, families, and support departments to adequately plan for patient needs
- Demonstrates proper body mechanics consistently
- Capable of making independent decisions when necessary
- Well-versed in practices, procedures, laws, regulations, and guidelines relevant to post-acute care facilities
- Implements and interprets department programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures
- Demonstrates proficiency in all competency areas, including patient rights, safety, and sanitation
- Maintains professional relationships with associates and vendors while preserving confidentiality of proprietary information
- Adheres to company policies, including harassment and compliance procedures
- Upholds integrity and professionalism by following Life Care's Code of Conduct and completing mandatory training
Essential Functions:
- Follows physical therapy treatment plans for patients under the supervising PT's direction
- Charts accurately and promptly
- Uses therapy software appropriately and accurately
- Provides excellent customer service and maintains a positive attitude towards patients
- Assists in patient evacuations when needed
- Ensures regular attendance, concentration, reasoning skills, good judgment, and effective communication within an interdisciplinary team
- Engages in various physical activities during working hours
- Proficient in English language skills (reading, writing, speaking, and understanding)
