    The Registered Respiratory Therapist I is an individual that is licensed by the NYS Department of Education to perform respiratory therapy procedures, cardio-respiratory diagnostics, and patient assessment under the direction of a licensed physician.


    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily as outlined in the annual competency assessment as well as possess an active NYS License to practice Respiratory Care as a Registered Respiratory Therapist.


    • Active Basic Life Support certificate is required; active ACLS certification is preferred.
    • Graduate of an AMA-approved program of Respiratory Care (minimum Associate's Degree)
    • Possess active NYS Respiratory Therapist License that contains an up-to-date CE profile and is free of any disciplinary action.
    • At least 1 year of experience as an RRT in an academic medical center environment; Both Pediatric and adult critical care skills are highly desirable and/or
    • New Graduate of a CoArc- approved Respiratory Care Program (experience based on clinical rotations)
    • Experience with emergency department procedures is highly desirable.
    • Exposure to the management of neonatal patients is desirable.
    • Experience with patient transport (both inter- and intra-hospital).
