Senior Development Engineer
The Senior Development Engineer is responsible for the engineering, design, interconnection, permitting, and technical risk assessment of our utility-scale energy storage projects.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Developing and designing utility scale projects to East Point Energy's design standards using the company's design tools
Managing active projects across two-three power markets while providing work oversight and mentorship to Development Engineers
Managing outside engineering (civil and electrical), environmental consultants and contractors; including bidding, contracting, and reviewing and assessing deliverables
Creating constraints maps, site plans, and project layouts in AutoCAD
Identifying and finding resolution for project risks related to environmental, engineering, design, permitting and technology
Maintaining relationships and keeping up to date with key ESS and inverter equipment manufacturers
Understanding of current & future battery and renewable energy technologies (e.g. Li-ion, solid-state, flow, etc.)
Creating and maintaining project plans with schedules and budgets
Working independently, with the project team, and with outside parties, such as landowners, permit officers, public agencies, equipment vendors, contractors, etc.
Attending local government public hearings for discretionary permittingSupporting Interconnection application and study process while tracking interconnection reform for two-three power markets
Leading continuous improvement initiatives for development engineering to maintain and iterate upon tools and processes
Skills:
Proficiency with Microsoft software suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Teams, etc.)
Proficiency with project management software
Proficiency with AutoCAD and Civil 3D, experience with GIS a bonus
Experience with PVSyst, PVCase, and power modelling software a bonus
Ability to communicate across a broad spectrum of technical understanding - written, verbal and non-verbal
Public speaking skills, experience presenting projects at public hearings a bonus
Technical risk identification and assessment
Ability to review and interpret construction drawings for technical requirements

Education & Experience:
4+ years of relevant engineering work experience required
2+ years of utility scale (50+ MW) renewable / storage industry experience preferred
Applicants with a bachelor's or master's degree in environmental, electrical, or civil engineering are preferred
Travel & Time Commitment:
Up to 30% of time will be on the road; will vary based on status of projects
Work travel includes solo site visits and landowner meetings
This is a full-time, exempt salaried position. Standard office hours are from 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM EST. The demands of projects may require work outside of these times.
