    We are currently looking for a skilled Lead Software Engineer with expertise in Rust to develop the core software for our hardware platforms. In this role, you'll be instrumental in crafting and optimizing high-performance code that processes intricate data streams directly from vehicle systems. This position requires low-level systems programming in resource-constrained Linux environments, where your extensive technical knowledge will be utilized to enhance hardware efficiencies and ensure peak performance and dependability.

    Your contributions will be vital in processing real-time data from communication buses such as MIL-STD-1553, ARINC-429, and CAN. You'll transform raw protocol information into structured data to drive cybersecurity and operational insights, ensuring reliable data contracts for downstream products and analysis systems.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Create and enhance high-performance Rust software for real-time data processing on custom, resource-constrained Linux platforms.
    • Design type-safe hardware abstractions while managing complex build dependencies and ensuring memory safety.
    • Develop and maintain code generation pipelines for protocol specifications and translation tables into strongly-typed Rust structures.
    • Implement efficient parsers for complex wire protocols, working at the bit level for precise data models.
    • Optimize software to leverage specific hardware capabilities using in-depth Linux systems knowledge.
    • Design and build concurrent data pipelines using message-passing architectures and lock-free data structures.
    • Debug intricate issues spanning hardware, protocol specifications, and concurrently timed processes.
    • Write thorough unit, functional, and integration tests for protocol parsing, data handling, and hardware integration.
    • Document designs, data flows, architectural choices, and safety-critical code patterns diligently.
    • Integrate with existing C-based APIs and libraries utilizing Rust's FFI, including CMake, autotools, and bindgen.
    • Maintain and enhance core processing software to ensure long-term stability, performance, and adaptability.
    • Collaborate seamlessly with cross-functional teams including hardware engineers, security researchers, and product managers.

    Required Qualifications:

    • U.S. Citizenship.
    • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance.
    • BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
    • Experience with a shipped, commercial Rust project in production.
    • In-depth understanding of Linux systems programming, including kernel interaction and system-level debugging.
    • Proven proficiency with Git and modern CI/CD practices.
    • Strong communication skills for documenting technical details and engaging with stakeholders.
    • Ability to advocate for architectural improvements and influence technical directions.
    • Demonstrated independence and ownership of complex technical problems.
    • Solid knowledge of data structures and algorithms for high-performance, real-time systems.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Active U.S. Government Security Clearance (Secret or higher).
    • Experience with military clients or classified data environments.
    • Experience with software certified under regulatory standards (DO-178, IEC 62304, etc.).
    • A forward and reverse engineering approach for complex data protocols.
    • Familiarity with vehicle, aerospace, or industrial data protocols (e.g., CAN, J1939, MIL-STD-1553, ARINC-429).
    • Experience with lock-free data structures and real-time systems programming.
    • Knowledge of code generation or build-time code processes, with awareness of their complexities.
    • Experience in designing data processing pipelines that accommodate streaming and batching.
    • Experience with containerization tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) for consistent development environments.
    • Experience working in sensitive environments.

    Compensation & Benefits:

    • Base Salary: $182,000 - $232,000.
