    Senior Staff Accountant - Knoxville, United States - Regal Entertainment

    Description
    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
    • Calculate, prepare, and review journal entries for the monthly close
    • Review monthly financial statements and provide detailed analysis of budget and prior period variances
    • Monitor internal control procedures and prepare schedules and documentation provided to the internal auditors.
    • Assist in the timely completion of the external audit by preparing audit schedules and answering questions.
    • Assist the Fixed Asset manager on the monthly processing of US/UK fixed asset additions/disposals into the General Ledger and Fixed Asset Subledger
    • Review cost of goods sold and prepare variance analyses monthly
    • Assist in monthly inventory review and work with theatres to resolve discrepancies
    • Implement, coordinate, and review various aspects of the annual budgeting process
    • Reconcile General Ledger Accounts and prepare monthly roll forward schedules
    • Ensure compliance with GAAP principles
    • Assist with SOX compliance
    • Assigned month end/quarter end/year end close responsibilities
    • Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spending for the Company
    • Research and answer Profit & Loss questions for operations & management
    • Continual process improvement
    • Completion of various daily/weekly/monthly reporting for Management
    • Maintain proper support and documentation for all job duties.
    • Accounting special projects as assigned

    Education/Experience:

    High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Bachelor's degree in accounting and/or Finance; four to seven years related experience and/or training. CPA or CPA track preferred and/or the equivalent experience in a public company. In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Fixed asset and inventory management experience preferred.

    Language Ability:

    Must have good reading, writing, and speaking skills to effectively communicate with studios, managers, and co-workers.

    Math Ability:

    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to develop and interpret charts.

    Reasoning Ability:

    Perform under pressure and/or opposition at times relying on your own independent judgment and knowledge to decide the best directions and solutions.

    Computer Skills:

    Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, database software. Proficiency with MS Word and Outlook including advanced Excel skills including Vlookups and pivot tables. Hands on experience with accounting software packages such as Dynamics, Bloomberg (BNA) or other ERP Financial software is a plus.

    Supervisory Responsibilities:

    This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
