    What we do:

    The Lead Battery Management System (BMS) SW/FW Engineer serves as a lead member that architects and develops the BMS SW and FW (software/firmware) for our Energy Storage Systems (ESS).

    The role is responsible for SW and FW architectures, code development and support verification and validation.

    This role works closely with other HW / Algo / Cell Engineers in the Battery team and other multi-functional team members to develop requirements and to support integration testing at the Powertrain, ESS system, or Cell module level.

    This position will be required to work on-site 5 days a week.

    Oversee and manage the BMS ESS SW/FW teamDevelopment of high-level and detailed level RTOS based BMS SW/FW architectureDefinition for SW/FW and HW dependencies internal to BMS and at aircraft system levelDevelopment of detailed SW/FW design for distributed and redundant BMS system with self-test and discrimination capabilities compliant to DO178 standardDevelopment and implementation of simple battery management algorithmsDevelopment of robust communication interfaces in line with aircraft system requirementsParticipation and driving system level tradeoffs on HW / SW / FW partitioning and trade off decisionsParticipation in architectural discussions with aircraft controls team & power train teams and driving optimal decisions for SW/FW architecturesResponsible for the tool selection, development and implementation of a robust SW/FW dev & build environment, verification and rigorous follow upEstablishment of high-quality design / code review processes and alignmentOther duties as assignedWhat you can contribute:Bachelor's degree in electrical or computer engineering with focus on embedded system development for real time applications required; Master's or PhD degree preferred Minimum of ten (10) years of real time, safety critical SW / FW development experience with resource constrained microcontrollers and in SW / FW development in BMS preferably for high voltage large format batteries (an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered for this role)Proven experience in SW/ FW architecture development and production level SW/FW development for BMSDemonstrated experience in implementing FW development and verification processes for real time systemsExpert in real time embedded system requirement gathering, architectural developmentExcellent programming skills in C and C++ and scripting skillsUnderstanding of DO-178C compliance for functionally safe SW development processExperience in development of simple algorithms for battery SOC estimation and the likeSignificant experience in implementing DSP algorithms in RTOS environmentExcellent skills in communication, problem solving and strategic thinking.

    Excellent skills required in technical communication, and reliance on data for issue resolution and decision makingExcellent organizational skills, team-oriented thinking, and attention to detailProficiency with MS Office Suite specifically for data analysis, document creationExcellent verbal and written communication skillsMust have the ability to independently prioritize and accomplish work within time constraintsAny offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background check.

    Base pay offered may vary depending on skills, experience, job-related knowledge and location. This position is also eligible for a bonus as part of total compensation.
