    Position Summary Information
    Objective
    Process all areas of financial aid from answering the phones to awarding students, completing reports, and performing professional judgments.

    Working on various reports and contacting students in repayment on their student loans to help prevent them from going into default.

    Working with students and parents providing direct customer service to students in order to be prepared financially to pursue their educational goals.

    In this process use critical problem solving skills to ensure regulatory compliance for Blinn College in adminstering various financial assistance programs.

    Provide clarity and guidance to students regarding financial aid application opportunities, types of financial aid available, and loan borrowing education.

    Assist veteran services office through advising veterans in educational opportunities, assisting students remotely, and responding to departmental emails. Review financial aid appeals and provide students with counseling advice for the federal financial aid program. Perform verifcation, and various other processes related to financial aid. Processing the daily loan processes for all loan programs that are available to students for their education.

    Principal Accountabilities
    Assists student via email, phone, or walk ins to help them through the financial aid process.

    Resolve difficult situation in processing financial aid that can include making professional judgements based on flexibilities provided by the U.S.

    Dept. of Education and can be of a very personal nature to the student.
    Principal Accountabilities

    Advise students and review requests for professional judgments such as dependency overrides, income adjustments, homeless situations, or other unusual and extenuating circumstances that fall outside of the "normal" financial aid situations which could include dependency overrides, income adjustments, homeless situations, or other unusual and extenuating circumstances.

    Review documentation such as C flag, Pell lifetime limits, unusual enrollment, and additional situations that require additional review for students' accounts.

    Loan processing responsibilities:
    Awarding and processing

    loans, monitoring and making adjustments to student loan amounts due to

    SULA , and performing monthly DL Recon and ensuring that all funds are accounted for. Be able to perform all job responsibilities related to all loan processing.

    Responsible for ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and institutional policies and regulations that govern student employment, scholarships, loans, and other financial aid programs and veteran educational benefits for Blinn College.

    Other duties as assigned. To include but not limited to reviewing financial aid appeals, reviewing and scoring endowed scholarship applications, reviewing endowed scholarship thank you letters,

    presentations, outreach, student loan default, processing scholarship checks, verification, professional judgments, packaging students, helping with veteran processing, etc.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Bachelor's Degree or some hours towards a college degree or 2 or more years of experience working in a financial aid office in higher education.

    2 or more years of customer service experience

    Ability to communicate clearly and thoroughly with people of various backgrounds and experiences in such a way that they feel comfortable and willing to work well together.

    Strong problem-solving skills to analyze situations and experiences.
    Self-motivated and goal-oriented, team player.
    Ability to handle numerous complex and routine tasks simultaneously.
    Preferred Qualifications

    Financial Aid experience at an institution of higher education and know U.S. Department of Education and regulations, state regulations for financial aid programs.
    Experience with Banner or Ellucian products.
    Previous work experience that involves frequent and routine problem-solving.
    Customer service to a variety of individuals with successful outcomes.
    Prior experience working in Microsoft

    TEAM , and Zoom.
    Prior intermediate experience working with Excel.
    Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook
