Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Emergency Department RN with a ME or compact license and BLS certification for 12-hour day shifts.

Responsibilities

• Position is in the Emergency Department of a hospital setting
• Day shift schedule from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM
• 13-week contract assignment
• Provides care to patients of all age groups in an emergency care environment
• Responsible for age-appropriate nursing assessment, care planning, implementation, and ongoing reassessment in the Emergency Department
• Completes patient education, discharge planning, and follow-up calls
• Collaborates with healthcare team including participation in multidisciplinary rounds and meetings
• Participates in quality improvement activities and emergency preparedness drills
• Expected to maintain a safe physical environment and report safety or compliance issues as needed
• Exposure to infectious diseases, bloodborne pathogens, and cleaning chemicals is possible
• Scrub requirements not specified; dress code as per hospital policy
• First-time travelers will be considered

Requirements

• Active ME or compact RN license required
• Minimum of 1 year of Emergency Department RN experience required
• Current, unexpired Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• ACLS certification preferred
• Must have up-to-date immunizations including varicella, HepB (or declination), MMR, Tdap, PPD within past 12 months, and flu vaccination during season
• Strong critical thinking, problem solving, and effective communication skills required
• Ability to perform physical demands such as lifting up to 30 lbs, pushing wheelchairs and stretchers, and standing or walking for extended periods
• Must have visual and hearing acuity to assess patients
