    The Agency for Health Care Administration is Florida's chief health policy and planning entity.

    The Agency is responsible for administering the Florida Medicaid program, the licensure and regulation of nearly 50,000 health care facilities, and empowering consumers through health care transparency initiatives.

    Under the direction of Agency Secretary Jason C.

    Weida, the Agency is focused on advancing Governor DeSantis' vision for Florida's health care system to be the most cost-effective, transparent, and high-quality health care system in the nation.

    Current Agency initiatives include implementing Florida's groundbreaking Canadian Prescription Drug Importation Program, overhauling Florida's healthcare technological ecosystem, and increasing insight in the cost of health care services.

    Position Overview:

    This position will be hired at the minimum annual salary of $45, # ($1,742.64 biweekly) and is non-negotiable.


    This position is responsible for complex administrative and health care regulatory work within the Bureau of Health Facility Regulation, Laboratory and In-Home Services Unit.


    The ideal candidate for this position must have excellent organizational skills, be productive under tight time frames, be able to balance multiple and competing priorities, and maintain goal-directed behavior.

    Must be able to meet expectations in a high-volume environment, and interact courteously and professionally with others, both internally and externally.

    Applicant must have experience working independently and as part of a team in researching, gathering, comparing, and analyzing information relating to assignments and projects.

    Those not able to work effectively in a deadline-oriented atmosphere should not apply.

    The working hours for this position are 8:
    00 a.m. to 5:
    00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

    Good attendance is essential for any individual in this position as the work involved occurs daily and is time sensitive.

    The individual in this position is expected to report to work daily and on time. Leave must be requested in advance except in emergency circumstances not under the control of the employee.

    Duties and Responsibilities:


    The incumbent will function as a member of a cooperative team that is responsible for the licensure and/or certification duties relating to clinical laboratories, drug free workplace laboratories, end stage renal disease (ESRD) providers, organ procurement organizations, tissue banks, eye banks, home health agencies and nurse registries.

    The incumbent is responsible for providing technical and consultative services for all matters pertaining to licensure and/or certification and regulation of assigned programs.

    Specific responsibilities and duties are as follows:


    Reviews and processes all applications and supporting documents for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with state licensure and/or federal certification requirements.

    Monitors progress of applications and takes appropriate actions to approve, withdraw or deny applications within established regulatory time frames.

    Reviews survey information for compliance with state licensure and/or federal certification requirements and initiates appropriate action as necessary. Communicates with AHCA field office staff regarding requirements in state laws, rules, federal requirements, and survey standards.


    Provides consultation to agency staff and health care providers regarding state licensure and/or federal certification, including initial, renewal, change of ownership, or general information changes.

    Provides information to the public about assigned programs including state and federal regulations relating to licensure and certification.


    Responds to all correspondence and prepares public record requests as assigned relating to provider licensure and/or certification, survey standards and other general issues for the assigned areas of responsibility.


    Reviews, analyzes, and researches legislative issues and prepares or reviews analysis of the projected impact of proposed legislation as assigned.

    Reviews legislative bills and amendments to ensure analyses reflect appropriate policy, budgetary and staffing issues that would affect the Laboratory and In-Home Services Unit.

    Coordinates with other AHCA staff as necessary when legislation involves changes affecting other units or bureaus within the Division.

    Assists with rule writing activities for the Laboratory and In-Home Services Unit as assigned.

    Works with the Program Administrator to draft proposed rule language, conduct rule development workshops, and other such activities in the promulgation of rules to implement program initiatives as required.


    Researches, compiles information, and prepares reports required in completing special assignments, compiles and analyzes data related to administrative and health care regulatory duties, and planning issues.

    Ability to understand and apply statutes, rules and regulations governing facility licensure and/or certification.

    Knowledge of and experience with work processing, spreadsheet, database, and desktop publishing software.


    Ability to utilize personal computer equipment and software to enter, retrieve and manipulate data required to perform licensure and certification functions.

    Plan, organize, prioritize, and complete work assignments timely.


    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS


    At least four (4) years of professional experience in health care administration, health care planning, health care regulation, or other health or rehabilitation program.

    A degree from an accredited college or university that included a major study in health care administration, business administration, public administration, public health administration or a health care related field can substitute on a year-for-year basis for up to two years of the required work experience.
