Under direct supervision prepares and processes tissue specimens microscopic examination pathologist Assists with scheduling regional reporting functions Serves liaison with pathologists issues regarding histology operations Prepares tissue bone section fixation dehydration manually automatically assures solutions chemicals properly prepared in place atomic equipment working order Embeds tissue paraffin other embedding agents positioning assure maximum surface important available verifies specimen matching pathology slips Determines best placement blocked tissue microtome adjusts angle surface available verifies specimen matching pathology slips Stains slides routine special histochemical stains demonstrate pathology special features tissue microscopically examines representative sample check quality staining achieves reprocesses slides necessary intensify lighten stain Prepares varied stains solutions compounds used histologic processes following exact procedures established laboratory maintained written form Assists orienting training current new employees functional tasks equipment operation Inspects microtome blades cryostat prior use sharpens hones blades manually machine necessary Maintains records all tissue specimens related histologic procedures following procedures Inventories orders operational supplies necessary Establishes maintains courteous cooperative relations public personnel Promotes ensures improves customer service internal external customers demonstrating skills consistent organizations philosophy providing extraordinary customer relations quality service Prepares monthly schedule histology Mohs clinic Prepares all local regional reports Assists budget preparation Ensures quality control maintained Serves technical consultant instrumentation issues Recommends methodologies assists Supervisory Team evaluating incorporating writing new procedures Assists keeping existing procedure manuals updated periodically reviewing written procedures eliminating obsolete procedures conferring Supervisory Team Evaluates work performance Clinical Laboratory Scientists MLT Medical Clinical Laboratory Scientist students assigned Lead Clinical Laboratory Scientists area Discusses clinical laboratory problems mutual interest Supervisory Team Clinical Pathologists provide continuous communication vital information operating units Identifies addresses attempts resolve department problems concerns
