    Summary:


    Reporting to the Chief Human Resources Officer, the Vice President, Total Rewards at Nuvance Health will lead its compensation, benefits, reward and recognition, and wellness teams.

    The role will require the individual to manage the design and implementation of innovative, best-in-class strategies to attract, reward and retain top talent.

    This position is a key member of the Human Resources leadership team, collaborating to develop short and long term plans that help drive the organization's success.


    As a functional expert in total rewards strategies, the VP Total Rewards will be responsible for broad-based and executive compensation, short- and long-term incentives, salary and hourly reviews, health, welfare, savings and pension plans, and ancillary benefits.

    This position will work closely with internal functions (Finance, Sales Ops, IT, etc) and external partners/vendors to deliver creative and market-sensitive Total Rewards strategies that are consistent, scalable, effective, and deliver an optimal return on investment.


    This position also ensures that compensation, benefit, and rewards programs support the organization's strategic objectives, align with the Nuvance Health culture, and meet all legal and regulatory requirements.

    This role manages a service-oriented team of professionals dedicated to providing a competitive total rewards program through best-in-class program design, excellent consultative services, and exceptional user experience.

    Responsibilities1.

    Leads all of Nuvance Health's Total Rewards functions and programs, including staff, leadership, and executive compensation; employee benefit programs (health, welfare and retirement programs, ancillary benefits such as tuition reimbursement and student debt); rewards and recognition programs; and staff wellness.2.

    Evaluates, designs and executes all employee benefit programs, compensation/salary administration guidelines and compensation philosophy aligned with culture and in support of organization goals, both nationally and in the local markets.

    Ensures a progressive and contemporary approach to the design, analysis, and implementation of staff, leadership, and executive compensation packages including short and long term incentive design.

    Supports the annual Executive Compensation Planning cycle, providing insight, technical expertise, analysis and recommendations. 4.

    Is a role model for the HR Brand and the Nuvance Health Reason for Being Values, exhibiting a service mindset.

    Demonstrates business and operational acumen to understand organizational challenges, identify opportunities to drive and support growth strategies, and serve as a steward for fiscal responsibility.5.

    Evaluates and manages development of new positions and job descriptions, creates job ranges, and grade levels. Advocates for and drives job description structures and approval processes enabled through best-in-class technology solutions.6.

    Develops standardized processes, governance, and effective controls for each function within the Total Rewards organization, ensuring compliance with current and emerging regulatory requirements, competitive practices, and annual audit plans.7.

    Evaluates all benefit (health & welfare, retirement, ancillary, etc.) programs, proposing/recommending necessary modifications, developing creative approaches, and ensuring achievement of competitive market position and other goals identified by the organization including return on investment.

    Demonstrates thought leadership to address current and emerging compensation and benefits trends and issues, as well as recruitment and retention needs.8.

    Manages and evaluates consultants and benefits vendors, to ensure deadlines and key performance indicators are met and negotiates competitive rates.

    Partners with outside experts, including consultants, carriers, third-party administrators and outside counsel, for matters such as benchmarking, plan design, coverage, renewals and communications.

    9. Oversees and governs non-cash programs, including rewards and recognition programs, to support the Nuvance Health culture and overall engagement.10.

    Partners closely with HR Business Partners and Talent Strategy in development of key frameworks including promotional guidelines, career ladders, and levelling criteria/frameworks11.

    Advocates for identification of improvement in health outcomes for our employees and communities. Designs wellness and health plan programs to address areas of greatest need. Partners with the Nuvance Health Value team to expand health plan tiered offerings to academic, community, and commercial customers.12. Develops comprehensive and integrated communication and change management strategies that drive awareness, adoption, and understanding of our programs. Prepares and delivers presentations to high-level stakeholders and leadership, including the Board of Directors, as necessary. 13. Builds, develops and sustains a high performing Total Rewards team, ensuring top talent in key roles supporting the function. Ensures accountability and follow-through for each team member on projects, performance, collaboration and support for the organization.

    Provide coaching and mentorship to develop team members, ensure succession planning in place, and develop a strong bench of talent for key roles.


    Educational / Experience Requirements:
    Master's Degree required. Degree in business, human resources, organizational development, healthcare management, or equivalent preferred. Equivalent experience will be considered.

    A minimum of 10 years of Human Resources leadership experience required, with at least 3 years in the healthcare industryCertified Total Rewards Professional, Certified Compensation Professional (CCP), Global Remuneration Professional (GRP), Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS), Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), SHRM Human Resources Leadership or similar certification preferredProven track record applying subject matter expertise (technical skills) to address a core business need and developing a process/system/solution which can deliver repeated/scalable positive results.

    Experience working with labor unions a plus.
