    Position Description If you love high-profile and challenging programing projects supporting the US Navy- Serco has a great opportunity for you The Navy Ordnance System Engineer will support US Navy shipbuilding programs in Pascagoula MS by reviewing and monitoring Ordnance system designs and implementation during construction for Navy Ships

    The successful candidate will be integrated into the Project Office Technical support teams solving technical challenges and overseeing changes to weapons and ordnance ship systems for multiple US Navy ships under construction

    In this role, you will:

    • Provide systems engineering support for the SSGC Project Teams throughout construction of each ship in the areas of Weapons Systems, Ordnance Safety, Aviation Integration and Mission Package Integration for DDG 51, LPD, and LHA class ships.
    • Monitor construction, testing, and certification of assigned systems to include Weapons Handling systems/Equipment, Magazine Sprinklers, Ordnance Safety Systems, associated damage control equipment, and Consolidated Operability Testing (COT) systems
    Support the conduct of technical reviews, analyses, and evaluations of industry designs in the above areas
    Participate in Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), working groups, industry design meetings, and production reviews.


    • Support the technical design review and production introduction of associated weapons and ordnance systems changes to the technical baseline
    Support the Project Office with Request for Deviation (RFD)/Request for Waiver (RFW) review and approval process.


    • Review each Ship's design drawings, engineering change notices, ship specifications, Contract Data Requirements List (CDRLs), deliverables and verify equipment installations and drawings are in accordance with contract requirements for all assigned systems.
    • Conduct in process inspections for assigned systems to identify discrepancies and concerns in meeting quality, schedule, or certification requirements.
    • Assist in coordinating the resolution of discrepancies
    Prepare technical assessments of Government responsible deficiencies that are documented from Builder's and Acceptance Trials
    Track trial card adjudication and develop plans to address correction during Obligation Work Limiting Date (OWLD window).


    • Provide technical analyses and services for response to the Prospective Commanding Officer (PCO) Concerns Letters for your assigned systems.
    • Support the review and validation of Weapons and Ordnance system CDRL submittals and correspondence assigned to the PMR.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
    • The ability to travel at least 10% of the time
    Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will have:


    • A Bachelor's degree in engineering or similar
    Additional relevant experience can be considered to offset degree requirements


    • A current active DoD Secret Clearance, or ability to obtain one.
    • Two to four years' relevant experience, and familiarity with shipboard Ordnance and Ammunition Handling systems to include OP4, Arms, Ammunition, and Explosives (AA&E), and physical security requirements.
    • Experience in ship construction techniques and methods.
    • Expertise with MS Excel, PowerPoint, and other office tools.
    • Knowledge of engineering analysis techniques.
    • The ability to travel at least 10% of the time
