- What you'll be doing:
- Sweeps, mops, vacuums, and/or buffs floor surfaces.
- Cleans restroom areas and replenishes paper supplies and soap as necessary.
- Cleans windows, walls, woodwork, and/or light fixtures.
- Empties trash receptacles.
- Dust furniture and fixtures.
- Collects recycling and places it outside for collection.
- Serve as an Elevator Operator for City Hall occasionally as needed.
- Performs related work as required.
- An employee in this role will be assigned to City buildings/facilities in various locations and will be responsible for driving a city-issued vehicle to those locations to complete their work.

About you: - What you Bring:
- High school diploma or GED, ideally supplemented by one year of work experience that shows an understanding of customer service and/or custodial responsibilities, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
- Valid North Carolina Driver's License (or out-of-state with the ability to obtain the same) preferred.
- Pay Rate: $18.25 hourly
Work Schedule: The position is a Monday-Friday, 40-hour week with 8-hour daily shifts. Shifts will vary but fall within the hours of 8:00 am-5:30 pm, determined by the supervisor and staffing needs. Some overtime may be required. - General knowledge of learned procedures, practices, and routines to deal effectively with routine work.

Summary
About our opportunity:
The City of Asheville's Capital Projects Department is looking for a motivated, detail-oriented individual to join their team as a Facility Attendant - Custodian. An employee in this position performs a variety of duties in the care and cleaning of assigned City buildings. This is an important position in the City that supports the work of all City employees by ensuring that work areas are clean and maintained. Work is repetitive, requiring efficient performance of simple cleaning duties. Work is performed under general supervision and is reviewed through inspection of completed tasks.
