    Description

    Quality Control Inspector

    Summary

    Responsible for providing quality assurance and related support services on behalf of ConSol to the State of California Community Services and Development (CSD) low-income weatherization contract. The Quality Control Inspector (QCI) is expected to maintain excellent customer relationships with all customers, local agencies, subcontractors, and any other appropriate personnel from outside entities. In addition, they are expected to demonstrate leadership skills and provide guidance and training to both internal and external customers when necessary. QCI's may be required to perform additional duties as assigned.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Travel up to 50-100% of time throughout California as needed.
    • Perform necessary visual inspections and diagnostic tests as required by CSD's weatherization program and follow approved protocols to perform each test for consistent results.
    • Ensure operational procedures are consistently implemented and provide advice to higher management when enhancements or new procedures are needed.
    • Responsible for proper maintenance, security, and storage of company issued equipment.

    · Provide testing and diagnostic support for training programs.

    • Provide management with operational reports as directed.
    • Make proper use of the Company's professional development program contingent on available time and funding.
    • Make proper use of the Company's IT applications in accordance with policies & procedures.
    • Advise Company's business development staff of external interest in our programs and services.
    • Cover temporary voids in field staffing areas as needed or directed by the Project Manager.

    Education and/or Experience

    · Minimum 3 years' experience in construction with strong understanding and knowledge of building science and energy efficiency required.

    · Building Inspection experience preferred.

    · California HERS I certification preferred.

    · BPI QCI Certification preferred.

    · Experience and understanding of residential retro-fit market preferred.

    · Residential construction site experience preferred.

    In-House Training requirements

    · An estimated total of 280 hours of in-house training will be required depending on existing qualifications the employee possesses.

    · BPI QCI, Energy Auditor, Building Analyst Professional Certification if not already certified.

    · The core classes (which include: CSD Online Weatherization / Installer Training, Blower Door and Duct Diagnostics, Combustion Appliance Safety, Inspection Policy and

    Procedures / Paperwork, Assessor Training, Monitored Field Inspections, and REM Energy Audit Training) take place online and at designated training centers or the CSD office located in Sacramento. Follow up classes take place in the field.

    · Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Certified Renovators certification.

    Language Skills

    Ability to read, analyze, write, and interpret general business reports, correspondence, and technical information. Ability to present information effectively and respond to questions.

    Reasoning Ability

    Ability to identify and define results and recommendations, collect data, establish resolutions and draw conclusions with minimum supervision.

    Specific Skills and Abilities

    · Good verbal and written communication skills.

    · Strong engineering and/or energy efficiency analysis skills.

    · Ability to write reports as well as correspondence with little or no supervision and/or editing.

    · Computer skills: knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook.

    · Construction knowledge, particularly energy efficiency [California Title 24].

    · Practical construction/compliance experience is very helpful.

    · Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment and/or independently.

    · Able to work with people using tact and diplomacy.

    · Exemplary Customer service skills.

    · Travel will be required 2-4 weeks of each month.
