Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) II is a professional caregiver who takes responsibility for a group of patients within a set period. The RN II provides patient care using various methods including the nursing process, environment, and health care team.
Essential Responsibilities:

• Conducts assessment and data collection systematically, focusing on various aspects of patient status such as physiologic, psychosocial, cultural, and cognitive factors.
• Creates a goal-oriented care plan when necessary.
• Delivers care in a consistent and thorough manner.
• Prioritizes patient care based on essential needs and available resources.
• Identifies patient/family learning needs and takes steps to address them.
• Demonstrates sensitivity to patient/family rights and specific needs.
• Coordinates care for patients and specific populations.
• Builds effective relationships with healthcare team members, patients, and families.
• Delegates tasks appropriately and coordinates duties among team members.
• Evaluates the care provided by team members.
• Uses effective communication methods and safety principles.
• Handles emergency patient care situations calmly and efficiently.
• Takes responsibility for own professional practice.
• Participates in staff development activities.
• Demonstrates knowledge of legal issues related to patient care.
• Participates in Performance Improvement activities.
• Participates in nursing research.
• Identifies and solves problems effectively.
• Demonstrates a patient-centered service philosophy.
• Provides input for staffing decisions and is flexible in resolving staffing issues.
• Demonstrates proficiency in computer and telecommunication utilization.

Basic Qualifications: Experience

• Six months recent experience in an acute care setting or completion of orientation in a training program.

Education

• High School Diploma/GED
• Graduate of an accredited registered nursing program.

License, Certification, Registration

• Registered Nurse License (California)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support within 6 months of hire
• Basic Life Support

• Training in specialty areas may be required.
