Bring fun to the community this summer Join our team as a Seasonal Recreation Program Coordinator and help create exciting events and programs The Seasonal Recreation Program Coordinator supports the recreation team in planning, developing, and organizing recreational programming and community events for the residents and visitors of the City of Coon Rapids to enjoy.

The Park and Recreation Seasonal Recreation Program Coordinator will work Monday-Friday, 40 hours/week, with some evening and weekend hours. This seasonal position will run from mid-May through late August.

Assist with Summer softball league organization, logistics, customer service and organization of fall leagues.
Partner with various departments to organize Summer in the City events which take place three times during the summer.
Assist with Farmers Market organization.
Assist with Coon Rapids Pet Fair organization and planning which includes organizing donations, volunteers, vendors, supplies, and other logistics.
Assist with 4th of July event needs which include logistics, signage, and other organization.
Assist with monitoring recreational programs in various parks and tend to customer service needs.
Assist with general office clerical duties and customer service requests as needed.
Assist with facility and park rentals.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Regular and reliable attendance during scheduled work hours and outside regular hours as necessary.
Maintains positive professional working relationships with all staff levels, other jurisdictions, outside agencies, and the general public.

Minimum Qualifications

A combination of training and experience substantially equivalent to the following:

High school diploma or GED required; current enrollment in college or possession of an Associate's Degree.
At least 6 months of experience in parks and recreation, sports, marketing, events, or a similar setting.
Valid Driver's License.

Preferred Qualifications

Student in events or tourism, sports management, or recreation and leisure services field, working towards a degree.

Physical Demands


The physical demands described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.

Most work is performed in an office setting, but may work outdoors or at various event locations, which could involve exposure to varying weather conditions.

Occasional evening or weekend work will be required to support events or attend meetings. The employee must frequently move, turn, lift, and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Limited lifting of 60lbs or less is required.

Activities that occur constantly (5–8 hours/shift): talking, hearing.

Activities that occur frequently (2–5 hours/shift): standing, walking, sitting, reaching, handling.


Activities that occur occasionally (up to 2 hours/shift): lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, repetitive motions, eye/hand/foot coordination.

Activities that occur rarely (do not exist as a regular part of the job): crawling, grasping, and feeling.


EQUIPMENT/JOB LOCATION:


The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

This position will be primarily located at various City parks, possibly during inclement weather. This position works independently as well as closely with others.

The noise level in the work environment is typically quiet, but may be exposed to loud noises during various recreation activities.
