    The Program Coordinator for is a unique position that is primarily responsible for planning and coordination of all aspects of the ASES funded After School Academy (ASA) program.

    ASA provides students in grades 1st through 6th a safe space for expanded learning. Every day students have the opportunity to make social connections, experience enriching activities, and receive academic assistance. Students socialize and connect with our team and their peers daily. ASA supports students every school day immediately after school until 6pm. Our goal is to improve student's social, emotional, and academic potential through community, education, recreation, and enrichment.

    EXAMPLES OF DUTIES (This is a general description of duties and is not all-inclusive)Coordinate all aspects of a After School Academy programEstablish and maintain program records and computer databasesSupervise and assign programming tasks to instructors and volunteersMaintain regular communication with school principals, teachers, and parents regarding student needsProvide regular program updates including written reports to Supervisor in a timely mannerMay work independently or in a team environment depending on program requirementsProvide expertise and support to SupervisorEnforce City policies and proceduresMay be required variable hours including evenings and weekendsPerform other duties as assignedSUPERVISION EXERCISED AND RECEIVEDGeneral supervision is provided by the Recreation Supervisor.

    Program Coordinator will provide general supervision of Lead Instructors, instructors and volunteers.
    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSMust be at least 18 years of age.

    Must possess one of the following:

    forty-eight (48) college semester units, AA Degree or higherRelevant technical skill, education, experience or expertiseExperience assisting with implementation of children and/or youth programs and activities.

    Ability to establish and maintain productive relations and positive attitude toward othersExcellent written and verbal skillsExcellent organizational and supervisory skills, be resourceful, flexible and able to work both alone or as a team memberMust be reliable and be able to provide transportationAvailable to work Monday through Friday, 12:00pm-6:00pm schedule.

    DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's degree with teaching experience preferredExperience in implementation and programming of ASES grant funded programsAbility to frequently interpret and translate a language other than the English language among students, parents and school-based staff membersREQUIREMENTS FOR EMPLOYMENTMust be able to handle sensitive and/or stressful situations or information with tact, discretion and significant awareness of confidentialityMust effectively communicate with adults and children from a variety of cultural backgroundsWillingness to comply with suspected child abuse reporting PC)Employees are required to be certified in Adult/Child CPR & First Aid from American Red Cross, American Heart Association or supervisor approved equivalent.

    Employees must be certified within 30 days of hire date or prior to the first day of work, whichever occurs earlier.

    Fingerprinting and TB test are requiredMust submit verification of legal right to work in the United States as a condition of employmentSELECTION PROCESSQualified application will be evaluated on the basis of related experience and quality of presentation.

    The most highly qualified applicants will be invited to an oral interview. Applicant evaluations may include a written and physical test. Satisfactory candidates will be placed on an eligibility list. Placements are anticipated immediately after the list is established. Some placements may be assigned to emphasize public education as the City's needs require.
    Some positions may require a health evaluation.
