    General Statement of Duties

    Person County Government is recruiting for an Accounting Technician III for the Department of Social Services. The primary purpose of this position is to assist in leading, and directing financial and budgetary operations as well as long term and short term financial planning for the agency. This position is responsible for assisting the Business Officer in planning, researching, and preparing the Social Services budget which is the largest of any department within Person County Government. Included in the responsibilities are financial reporting, auditing program expenditures, interpretation of fiscal policies, purchasing, and other general accounting functions. This position reports to the Business Officer I.

    This is a non-exempt position working 37.5 hours weekly/1950 hours annually.

    Minimum Education and Experience

    Educational Requirements:
    • Graduation from high school including or supplemented by basic courses in bookkeeping or accounting and four years experience in bookkeeping or accounting clerical work in an accounting office;
    • or an equivalent combination of education and experience. (Graduation from a four year college or university with a major in business administration may be substituted for the required experience;
    • or a two year degree in business administration or accounting from a community college or business college may be substituted for three of the four years experience;
    • or completion of a one year course including or supplemented by courses in bookkeeping or accounting may be substituted for two years of the required experience.)
    Special Requirements/Qualifications

    License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation:

    Current NC driver's license required. Must have access to an automobile and maintain the minimum amount of insurance as required by NC law. No other license required.
