    PSYCHIATRIST 1:

    Possession of a license to practice medicine in New York State and completion of an accredited training program in general psychiatry acceptable by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology for entrance into its examination.

    Eligible for full and unconditional participation in the Medicaid and Medicare programs.


    PSYCHIATRIST 2:

    Possession of a license to practice medicine in New York State and board certification in general psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

    Eligible for full and unconditional participation in the Medicaid and Medicare programs.
    PSYCHIATRIST 1 (Children &Youth)

    Possession of a license to practice medicine in New York State and board certification in child and adolescent psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

    Eligible for full and unconditional participation in the Medicaid and Medicare programs.
    PSYCHIATRIST 2 (Children &Youth)

    Possession of a license to practice medicine in New York State and board certification in child and adolescent psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

    Eligible for full and unconditional participation in the Medicaid and Medicare programs.

    Transfer Opportunity - Candidates must have one year of permanent service as a Psychiatrist 1 (Children and Youth) or Psychiatrist 2 (Children and Youth) to be eligible for lateral transfer.

    If you are appointed and lose the ability to bill through Medicare and Medicaid, you may be terminated from your employment.

    Continued employment as a Psychiatrist 2 (C&Y) is dependent upon current licensure to practice medicine and in the case of Psychiatrist 2 (C&Y), current certification in child and adolescent psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

    Loss of licensure and certification may result in removal from this position.
    Duties Description Psychiatrists are essential to providing mental health services to the people OMH serves. They provide comprehensive and recovery oriented psychiatric treatment services built on principles of effective, measurable, and accountable care.

    As medical doctors, psychiatrists are responsible for ensuring that all services are integrated to promote mental and physical health and recovery.

    Additionally, since psychopharmacology has become an integral component of modern mental health treatment, psychiatrists serve as primary prescribers.

    Assistant Psychiatrists assist in providing psychiatric care and treatment services to individuals under the direct supervision of a licensed psychiatrist or physician.

    Psychiatrists 1 diagnose, treat, prescribe, and provide psychiatric care and treatment services to assigned individuals under the direction of a higher-level psychiatrist or physician.

    Psychiatrists 2 independently diagnose, treat, prescribe, and provide psychiatric care and treatment services to assigned individuals; provide clinical supervision and guidance to lower-level psychiatrists, physicians, and/or other medical providers; and may manage care and treatment services for an assigned facility, unit, or program.
