- Collects and analyzes patient data before, during, and after hemodialysis treatment, makes adjustments to treatment plans, and communicates with the healthcare team as needed.
- Assesses and addresses patient/family learning needs for education.
- Oversees daily delivery of hemodialysis therapy to patients.
- Administers medications as prescribed and documents their effectiveness.
- Responds to emergencies and serves as a resource for the healthcare team.
- Ensures proper laboratory procedures are followed and updates patient care plans.
- Educates patients on treatment options.
- Completes CAP requirements for advancement.

- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
- Current state licensure and CPR BLS Certification.
- Meets practice requirements in the employing state.
- Entry level for RNs with less than 1 year of Nephrology Nursing experience in the last two years.
- Minimum 9 months of RN experience (preferred).
- Experience in chronic/acute hemodialysis (preferred).

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
The registered nurse Outpatient RN CAP 1 is an entry level role into the Clinical Advancement Program (CAP). Responsible for providing competent care, including assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation for a group of patients. This involves delegating tasks to direct patient care staff such as RNs, LVN/LPNs, and Patient Care Technicians. As part of the healthcare team, this position engages in decision-making, teaching, leadership, and quality improvement activities to enhance patient care outcomes and facility operations.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
All duties are to be performed in line with Fresenius Kidney Care policies, procedures, and nursing standards.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
This job involves direct patient care, including lifting and moving patients, standing for prolonged periods, and potential exposure to infectious materials.
SUPERVISION:
Oversees Patient Care Technicians/LPNs/LVNs/RNs after meeting specific requirements.
