    About the Position

    I4DI seeks an Associate Director of Sustainability and Climate.


    In the interim, reporting to the Chief Strategy & Growth Officer, the Associate Director contributes to I4DI's Strategy and to building a strong practice of sustainability and climate focused work, leveraging impact technology, advisory services, and knowledge products.

    The Associate Director will have a role to develop business opportunities, leading bid and proposal management, and securing growth in yearly revenues.

    The Associate Director drives business value by raising the profile of I4DI's capabilities within key client segments, identifying and shaping clients' needs, cultivating new and managing existing strategic client relationships, and providing technical management and support to other I4DI teams.

    To successfully carry out its mandate, the Associate Director must be able to deliver strategic and sound technical advice, while offering excellent value, quality products and services.

    The successful candidate will have a passion for sustainability and climate issues, experience providing services to clients, and a strong business orientation.

    The successful candidate will show a growth mindset that includes a passion for developing themselves, new business, and other professional staff.

    The successful candidate needs to establish an environment of trust and cohesion across teams to deliver results.
    The Associate Director has the following client and team management responsibilities (70%)

    The Associate Director may serve as a subject matter expert on various sustainability topics, including ESG reporting, circular economy, science-based targets, certifications, materiality assessments, data collection/analysis/management, carbon reporting and lifecycle assessments.

    Under the direction of the Director and other I4DI staff, the Associate Director provides technical advisory services to I4DI's corporate clients on sustainability and climate related topics (e.g. sustainable sourcing, sustainable procurement practices, supplier-risk assessments, different methods to achieve sustainable commodities (certification, jurisdictional and supply chain approaches etc.))

    The Associate Director helps to build and to maintain a pool of affiliated consultants with global and regional expertise in sustainability and climate related topics.

    The Associate Director develops and implements client-focused sustainability strategies and solutions for carbon sequestration, waste management, water conservation, and energy, among others.

    The Associate Director is responsible for creation and delivery of work products and deliverables and must ensure I4DI and client quality standards are achieved or exceeded.

    The Associate Director has the following business development responsibilities (20%)

    In consultation with the Director and other I4DI Focus Area leads, the Associate Director helps to build a pipeline of strategic opportunities, participates in the go/no-go decision making process to commit time and resources in pursuit of these opportunities, and secures revenue growth aligned with I4DI's strategy and company objectives.

    Working with the Director and other staff, the Associate Director identifies, scouts, tracks and evaluates new companies and organizations for potential partnerships or commercial opportunities.

    The Associate Director keeps a pulse on industry developments, relationships and investment trends to prioritize outreach efforts toward high-potential, top opportunities aligned with I4DI unique value proposition.

    Working with other team members, the Associate Director manages capture, bid, and proposal efforts and develops strong technical proposals, presentation pitches, and pricing proposals for the pipeline of opportunities agreed by the SLT.

    The DSC contributes towards the following thought leadership activities (10%)

    The Associate Director works with I4DI's impact technology, MEL team, and leadership team to develop and package different private-sector-facing technology solutions.

    This collaboration may lead to the production of technical publications such as knowledge notes, case studies, and other learning-oriented products.

    The Associate Director contributes to I4DI innovation, knowledge generation, and institutional thought leadership by carrying out critical analysis and reflection of internal and industry practices related to I4DI's sustainability and climate related portfolio.

    The Associate Director represents I4DI to internal audiences through active participation in company initiatives and programs, to external audiences by participating in sustainability and climate-related events, and to a variety of stakeholders by writing and developing communications products.

    Required Experience and Skills

    Bachelor's Degree in sustainability, environmental policy, climate change, planning, civil engineering or related field.
    5+ years' experience in sustainability consulting, strategy, reporting, project design and implementation in a leadership position.
    xperience participating in business development and proposal development.
    Technical expertise in ESG or sustainability strategy development and implementation, and ability to deliver technically excellent, innovative projects.
    Experience with qualitative analysis, research, and business case development.
    Comfort leading presentations and facilitating workshops with large in-person or virtual audiences.
    Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
    Ability to represent the company's expertise to external audiences, including by authoring publications and participating in conferences and events.
