    Assistant Attorney General at Office of the Attorney General

    The Office of Attorney General Tim Griffin is looking for an experienced attorney to join as an Assistant Attorney General in the State Agencies Division.

    • Candidates must be licensed to practice law in Arkansas.
    • Significant experience with the Administrative Procedures Act and Freedom of Information Act is required.
    • Knowledge of legal principles and practices relevant to administrative hearings, licensing, statutory interpretation, and agency rules is preferred.

    The chosen attorney will provide legal representation to Arkansas's state agencies, boards, and commissions through administrative processes and agency matters.

    Additional responsibilities include providing education to directors and agency attorneys on rule promulgation, Administrative Procedures Act, Freedom of Information Act, and employment law.

    • Requires daily presence in the office and occasional overnight travel.
    • Must be self-motivated, collaborative, exercise sound judgment, and communicate effectively.
    • Assistant Attorneys General work under the supervision of Senior and Deputy Attorneys General.

    Assignment:

    • Legal work characterized as routine involving factual questions with clear applicable precedents.
    • Handle routine factual or policy issues that require research, analysis, obtaining expert testimony, and information in various technical areas.
    • Conduct legal research, analyze factual and legal issues, review policies and regulations, and prepare memoranda outlining facts and legal issues.
    • Regularly act as a legal adviser, plan, organize, and conduct studies of legal problems encountered.
    • Perform all other duties as assigned.

    Expectations:

    • Ability to complete work accurately involving legal citations and technical aspects.
    • Produce written work demonstrating soundness of approach, application of legal principles, and consistency with governing policies and regulations.

    Requirements:

    • Juris doctorate is a must.
    • Preferably 3-5 years of related field experience.
    • Must hold a license to practice law in Arkansas.
