- Circulates and assists in GI procedures
- Provides communication between team members within the endoscopy suite and outside the endoscopy suite
- Informs the OR Nurse Manager of case progress and reports and unusual circumstances
- Arranges room for specific GI procedure
- Verifies proper function of necessary equipment
- Assures that adequate supplies are available per procedure
- Verifies operative consent for correct patient, procedure & physician. Ensures all documentation is signed, dated and timed. Verifies chart has complete and updated history & physical
- Assists in patient transport to and from the GI room
- May assist anesthesia provider during induction & during other crucial periods
- Assists with decontamination of equipment and instruments using detergents and disinfectant solutions
- One or more years' of experience in a GI/Endo suite
- Current RN license in the state of Virginia
- Graduate from an accredited nursing institution, BSN preferred
- Current BLS certification is required
- Competence in oral and written communications
