    The Client Development Coordinator is a non-exempt position in the Marketing & Client Development Department and coordinates the research and analysis activities of the business development team and provides direction for the competitive intelligence (CI) team. This role will coordinate efforts to execute firm strategy, business development, and client relationship management. This individual will oversee the firm's competitive intelligence function, serve as the business development liaison for the firm intelligence platform, and assist in coordinating the pitch and proposal functions.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Client Development

    • Conduct market and competitive intelligence research to develop an understanding of client priorities. Identify opportunities with individual clients and works with business development liaisons to connect appropriate firm lawyers to pursue these opportunities.
    • Understand the legal services market, current and emerging competitive threats, competitors' solutions as well as the firm's strengths and weaknesses.
    • Coordinate pitches when cross-practice or not otherwise covered by a business development liaison.
    • Work on client related projects as assigned.

    Competitive Research & Intelligence

    • Lead Jones Walker's CI team; responsible for business development-focused prospect and client research; intelligence resource integration and adoption, company, and competitor analysis, business intelligence, trend spotting and proactively identifying business development opportunities.
    • Manage processes for research project intake, resource allocation, requirements definition, ongoing communication, and delivery of research and analysis projects.
    • Oversee junior team members in conducting in-depth research and analysis of companies, industries, markets, and competitors. Ensure that team members develop and communicate insightful and actionable intelligence to aid strategic decision making to drive business development, profitability, growth, client retention, and other business opportunities.
    • Manage the collection of internal and external research tools, maintain the relationship with vendors and outside service providers, and identify opportunities to improve and/or expand the collection of tools and their use.
    • Establish standardized competitive intelligence templates, procedures, and best practices related to research and analysis deliverables and proactively continue to improve upon these.
    • Gather information through reporting capabilities as well as reporting on team's output regularly.

    Proposal and Pitch Management

    • Collaborate with the firm's marketing and business development professionals to develop responses to formal proposal and pitch requests and gather intelligence before, during, and after competitions.
    • General oversight for centralized proposal management database system and support compilation, analysis, and reporting of various metrics.
    • Organize and coordinate content for proposal documents within the firm's proposal generator tool.
    • Work closely with BD team members and other relevant department leads to gather, update, and maintain approved practice descriptions, experience information, tailored content, and other standard response language used in proposals and RFPs.
    • Provide varying levels of formal and ad hoc assistance to BD team members when requesting proposal and pitch support.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B. S.) from four-year college or university; MBA or advanced certifications are a plus.
    • Thorough understanding of Microsoft Suite – i.e., Excel, PowerPoint, and a working knowledge of Foundation, Interaction, Adobe Acrobat, and other applicable software.
    • Good knowledge of legal practice area(s) and markets.
